Anyone know anything about late 20's Dodge Brothers stuff?

My buddy was cleaning out his storage shed he has owned since 1982 or so and found something in the attic he didn't know was there, a complete rear end with wheels and leaf springs. The wheels were wooden, no tires, and have what I think is DB on the grease caps. It has hydraulic brakes and is complete with drums and shoes (I assume). In dry storage since who knows how long and looks in great shape.

His boat repair shop, he works on wooden boats, was built about 1922 or earlier. When he bought it, there was a planer there run by a big belt and a 4 cylinder Vauxhall engine, 4 speed tranny, with a belt pulley on the end of a shaft. Look up Lutwick Yachts. He works all summer, so we sail his 24 ft boat late in the year. My record latest sailing date was Jan 8 one year, dress warmly.

Where would I get rid of the complete rear end for about a 1928+ - Dodge Brothers?

Don

I always thought that by the late 1920's it was no longer Dodge Brothers, that it was Dodge Division of Chrysler.

try advertising in Old Auto's, or Hemmings.

Or put it up on eBay. Even if it doesn't sell on eBay, I'm sure you'll get plenty of comments helping you identify it.

Thanks.

From what I read, Chrysler bought dodge Brothers in 1928, but the dB name was used until maybe 38.

Pretty rugged looking for about 1928-1930? I think hydraulic brakes started about 1928 and wood wheels ended in 30/31?

Hi Don. A friend of mine owned and did a complete re-furbish on his 1928 Dodge Brothers vehicle. I think he said it was a "Touring" (not sure about that though).  R M in Chatham did a great job and brought it back to concourse condition. He paid mega $ for this but he never went to a show including concourse shows and won 1st mostly and occasionally 2nd place. His had wooden wheels and R M fixed them up to look great but he would never drive the car because he was afraid to damage the wood wheels because he could not find sparse to replace them. He died 2 years ago and his wife sold the car. If you can not find a buyer post again and I will get in touch with his wife to find out who the buyer was and he may be interested.

Thanks Leo.

And Darryl I agree, way more metal in this thing than I expected.
