Absolutely nothing wrong with a 261 - they are a very torquey engine that should be more than adequate to keep up with today's traffic.
Besides, how many guys actually use a big block in the way it was intended in a 50+ year old car with single chamber master cylinder, drum brakes, mushy suspension, etc. We're not 20 years old and "invincible" anymore. They do look great with the hood raised at a car show, though...
