427 Maiden Voyage

I took my car out for about a 2 mile test run today. Can't do much, the streets are pretty messy. It's hard to find a clean dry road right now.

However, the right rear tire seems to have a slippage issue. I'm going to have to put it up on the hoist to see if I can figure out why.

Couple of outdoor shots finally---

Sounds like you're going to have to put a bigger tire on the right rear! biggrin

Looks great, Carl, but I need sunglasses to look at those shiny valve covers! aww

Congrats on seeing your project through!

Looks good Carl. You need a couple passengers on the right side. Give some more traction. Lol

Yes to the positrac, it's waiting in the wings.

No to the drag radials though!

Still need to paint my valve cover tabs and bolts orange. Also need to paint the oil filler cap black like it's supposed to be.

I have to find a solution for those ugly battery cable ends at the battery.

Yeah, I think it's gonna have to get a coating of "Cast Blast" or whatever that cast iron spray bomb says on it.

Looks great Carl! You need to find that rare "Liquid Tire Chain" option to get some traction!

Lookin' good Carl. Dumb question, should the battery be spun 180 degrees? I went with battery cables from NAPA, both had a black pigtail. My negative pigtail went to the fender to ground the body, and the positive spliced onto a fusible link to a junction block right behind the battery.

I see you don't have a pigtail on the negative, and you could cover the positive pigtail with red heatshrink to match the red wire across the radiator support.

Here's a couple photo's of my cars (you can only see the positive cables).  Both are NAPA cables, but the ends are a bit different.  I like the cable ends better on the engine with the dual snorkels.

Both my dual post Diehard's have been replaced with Group 24 Interstate batteries now.

ha ha...I'm so gullible, read your initial post and tried to figure out slippage issue until I read everyone else's comments. Tons of room around that BB still, looks awesome from my perspective!

I realize not everyone likes what I did to a survivor but I do think it was done in good taste with extra effort making it look like it belongs.

So far I won't be changing front springs. I'm happy with the stance. We'll see how it drives though. It may be too soft in the front.

And I may change both complete battery cables to get nicer looking cable ends, we'll see.
