The craziest 65 beaumont parts story you are ever going to hear

I went to buy some 65 beaumont parts yesterday off kijiji.   The guy was building a 65 custom HT.  he lived close to me, but i had never seen the car.

He explained i would never have seen this car,  he bought it a few years ago from alberta, and it has not been out. it was orig maroon, but now a different color.  I didnt think anything of it, and really couldnt get a good look at the car, it was in restoration stage.

We made a deal on a misc parts lot, and when i got home, i thought about our old friend Darren in calgary(Banned as user "indian").  he sold his maroon HT to wpg.

Could it have been the same car?

Then i go thru the boxes of parts and find the old sun visors.  To my surprise one of them is autographed!  by none other than Jim Wangers! faded bad and dated 1992

"DARREN   -  IT'S STILL A PONTIAC, LETS KEEP IT ALIVE Jim Wangers  someplace 1992"

So now i get on Poncho, and dig thru old postings. Sure enough.  Here it is! https://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t60464838/65-beaumont-hardtop-winnipeg/

Drove it about year and a half before seeing another '65 Custom, we both almost had a head on collision with each other staring at each others car. I ended up buying that Custom too. This red 2 drht, had its 283 rebuilt years ago, not correct 283, then repainted Peterbuilt colors. Was a beautiful car in evenings. I had the car autographed by Jim Wangers "its still a Pontiac, let's keep it alive-Jim" I added correct power seats when I was a teenager, but tracks need adjusting, seat sits way too high, but they work great. I also added rear window defroster. I probably know more about that Beaumont than the seller or even GM for that matter. That car is very well worth restoring.

Thats a funny story!!

I'm still ashamed that a site that features Acadians and Beaumonts prohibits historical discussion.

Thanks
Randy

I'm just glad they got rescued.  Could have been thrown in the trash pretty easily.  At first i thought it was just bad staining, until i started cleaning them.

Anyway, the visor is in good hands Darren, where ever you are.

It had to happen because of some less than grown up behaviour. It's banned over on the Beaumont/Acadian Facebook page as well, and at one point Team Chevelle had an issue because of it too. If men could just be men it could be a part of the conversation here but alas...........!

I'm surprised he got rid of the visor! How much to burn it?? It's one thing to have a lively debate, but another to just consistently be an @$$ to everyone.

The whole debate part never even entered my mind, regardless of what was written or who the owner was,  its sure a small world.

Not the first time stuff like this happens.  I seem to always find long lost beaumonts for some reason.

The cars and/or parts eventually seem to reappear in my driveway! ha ha

Maybe i should change my name to the "BeaumontWhisperer"

Why was the guy selling the parts if he still had the Beaumont? Extras?

Yes, just a bunch of extras and leftovers from the resto.  My guess its that he thought the visors were stained bad,  they were coming apart at the seamed edges too, but i think i would have kept the  autographed visor still.

I can't decide who's more famous, the previous owner of the visor, or the guy who signed it.

At any rate, it's certainly a valuable item!
