My early "HAPPY 427 DAY" thread!

I won't have any time for computer for a couple of days, but I wanted to make sure we all take a moment and celebrate 4-27-2019!

Discrimination, while you can have a 427, 409, 230, or 327 day, we cant leave out the 235, 261, 283, 348, 350, and 454. Very un-Canadian to not be inclusive. That doesnt even deal with those metric liter thingies.
But other than that, congrats on 427 day Carl, its a great big block.

To mark this momentous day, I'd like to see a shot of some black marks please.

Video from outside the car would be even better. You know...kind of like shooting off firework to celebrate!

The mysterious interior video of "some other car" makes me curious..

Rumour has it, the car is only able to leave a black "mark" right now, not black "marks"!

I'll see if I can track down the owner and confirm that it's only a single track diff at this point!

Yes, but the owner has been somewhat clandestine about his activities with this vehicle.  It may have received a positraction infusion and we'd never know about it... wink

The 427 in this Chevelle is actually a 69 Grande Parisienne 427 engine that was pirated by someone.... And yes, you all know who pirated it...........

Yes it started when I was quite young.... I met a strange fellow (from a small town in southern Manitoba) at a local swap meet.... it started small.... a few pieces for my blown up Muncie.... a couple pieces of trim... soon I was visiting on a semi regular basis. He showed me a few of his "TRICKS".... pulling Chevy big blocks out of unassuming full size Pontiacs and shredding the bones. Along the way I watched and learned about something we later coined as "OPTION-ITIS" where one pulls parts from one car to upgrade another. (recall one - 69 SS 396 Chevelle with EVERYTHING !!)

Soon it all went off the rails... It started with a few little purchases from said GM Parts Man... before long I was "Mainlining" GM parts at each payday (87 Corvette aluminum heads purchased with student loan funds) and secretly making trips to a dirty old warehouse east of McPhillips for hook ups. He once took me for a ride in a 66 Nova SS L-79 clone and ran through the gears without lifting on the gas !!?? POWERSHIFTING ??!!?? I remember saying incredulously "How can you do that to your poor car"!!?? Well next street race.... My gas foot was glued down and it's never been the same.

Shortly thereafter it was roadtrips to distant locales to rummage through Wood Tick infested fields of moldy mouse filled autos... pulling parts as flood waters rose... tearing out big blocks at quitting time... picking up Big Block Chevelle hoods from under a strangers stairs... Negotiating parts deals back and forth before even getting home.

It's been a fun ride ! I wouldn't change a minute of it !

Ahh yes the Chevelle (purchased from Carl for $1000)... It is an assembly of MANY picked pieces but most everything is period correct to 67. AC, tilt, cruise, buckets (both power, passenger recliner, headrests) console, tach, gauges, speed minder, tinted glass, power brakes, steering, top, trunk and locks, map light mirror, fiber optics, deluxe belts, 427, Late GM aluminum heads, Sq port intake and Holley carb, 700R4, 67-12 bolt 3;31 pos, 4 piston discs up front, front and rear sway bars.
Carl says it still needs a stick !!!
Gary

Somehow you skipped power windows too.)

All the facts in Gary's post above are true!

I recall one time we went to a swap meet (Nebraska maybe?) and both bought a whack of parts. As I recall, we sat down to eat in a Hardee's (in South Dakota) and ended up with a major trade between the two of us before we even got to the border!
