700r4- how much current does a lockup solenoid draw?

i cant get a straight answer, i need to install a switch for the lockup torque convertor. The internet gives me answers from 2.5 a to 30 a. I have a illuminated 5 amp switch i would like to use without having to wire in a relay. Thanks Pete

I can't answer how much amperage it draws, but it likely isn't too high since I tapped into an existing circuit and haven't had any issues.

Years back I wired one up using the wiper motor circuit with no issues. I suspect it's quite low. I'll try to ask a friend who rebuilds automatics.
