Hi, my Dad's '52 Chieftan (Canadian) is not sucking gas at all. Car runs great pouring gas down carburetor but then stops when fuel burnt. It is he original 1952 carburetor and we cannot find anyone who can confirm if a US rebuild kit will work, or if a '52 Chevy rebuild kit will work. If anyone has any thoughts or leads to get this sorted out, we'd love to hear from ya. Thanks for reading.
Carburetor was rebuilt by a mechanic. We think its good.
The fuel pump has not been rebuilt. We unhooked the gas line from the fuel pump to the carburetor and cranked the engine over and over - there is nothing coming out. We are pretty sure it the fuel pump as when we put gas down the carb she starts right up. We are definitely not mechanics, so any help would be awesome.
I have a 52 Pontiac my fuel pump was doing the same thing no fuel to the carb. I got ahold of California Pontiac restoration and got some good info. First there are two types of pumps one with a short arm and one a little longer. I got the one that is longer because it pumps the oil through the motor faster . Make sure the diaphragm is for todays fuel I went through 2 fuel pumps that were new old stock and the diaphragms rotted out and leaked
