Life before SUVs

 

Lots of Pontiacs and chevs - GMs are probably 50% of the cars on the lot

 

interesting how aged the couple of 59 Pontiacs look - Montreal was ( is ) probably a harsh climate for cars

At first I thought that 59 Pontiac wagon was missing a back wheel. On closer inspection you can see how far it is tucked in thanks to that Chevy frame.

Here's the tally:

Total cars = 42

GM = 21.... 50%... of which Pontiacs comprised 57%

FoMoCo = 6.... 14%

Chrysler Corp = 6... 14%

Imports = 7... 17%

Studebaker = 1... 2%

One I couldn't identify = 1... 2%

Due to rounding errors, it only adds up to 99%, but it gives you the basic idea.

Notably absent were Buick and Cadillac.

What are the most DeLuxe cars seen in your opinion...

I would say either the Olds or the 66 Grande in the foreground. Maybe the black batwing Olds in the back facing the river.

What is the black one, third from the top, facing the river? Im thinking Lincoln? If so, it gets my vote for most deluxe. Although that black Olds looks pretty swank too!

As a kid in the 60s I remember when the Parisiennes and Impalas ruled the street ... I went over that bridge many time with my parents as a young lad.
