the thing that caught our eye was the plywood sealing up the garage has been cut to fit around the shape of the car

My guess, is that someone drove off the road, fresh dirt in the ditch, landed into the suv. Took out the front of the garage and did a 180 into the side of the house. I suspect the owners are waiting for their insurance adjuster before moving anything.
