This will be last year for Steve Plunkett's Cruize-in

There is an article in todays London Free Press indicating that Steve Plunkett will be having the Last Cruize-in this weekend!  He is retiring from organizing the annual June 2 day show that has been going on for the past 15 years. Wants to spend more time travelling to shows in USA with his cars.  Sad time indeed as his show was always a highlight of the summer.  Bob.

I am very sad to hear that because this has always been the best that there is every year. I am sure there is far more to it than wanting to go to shows in the U.S. because that is what he is doing already. I will bet that he is tired of the cost of putting it on and having to clean up after everyone, not to mention the occasional damage that is caused to his private collection by the spectators. It is a major undertaking by Steve for a massive show of that size on his estate property and he is just tired of it. Sorry to see it go next year and now the biggest show here in Ontario is going to be the OLD AUTO'S newspaper annual Bothwell car show in August. Hopefully the weather will hold out for Steve's final Fleetwood Country Cruise In this coming June 1 and 2, 2019. I know i will be there. Cheers.

Great show for sure-if you haven't been there -go-it is unreal-I was lucky enough 2 years ago to have a private tour with about 15 chevelle guys of all his cars-not just the Cadillacs.Steve took 2 hours of his own time to give us the history of some of his cars.Hopefully the weather is good-bring your running shoes as you have to walk alot to see everthing just once.
Keep on Cruising!
Dave

Sad but understandable. Steve has been very accommodating to everyone not only at the Country Cruise but also smaller individual groups.
The local charities will miss the financial support they have got from the weekend and it has been substantial.

Last couple of shows there, i spoke to some folks that seemed to know that some minor damage has happened in the past.

Did anyone see Steve's Facebook rant? He did say "feel free to post and share" but not sure if I should. Lot's of F-bombs.. To say he's bitter is a bit of an understatement. A LOT of people have taken advantage of him in the past and I can understand some of his anger.

How do I find that FB rant. I did a little searching and can't find it.

My Auntie used to say, "No good deed goes unpunished" kind of a sad commentary on a LOT of people and how they take advantage of good souls.

I can understand the stress and frustration Steve must be feeling.

Years ago, As the President of a charity, (London Down Syndrome Association),

I called Steve about presenting at the show.

He told me that he is supporting 21 charities and pie is being cut thin.

I told him that we were looking for awareness, not any of the proceeds.

We were invited out and had a great time.

One of the participants came to visit us and told us of the story of his brother, who had passed away after a full life,

despite the way people with Down syndrome were treated in the past.

I have often wondered if this is a great member of this site.

Only he would know.

The next year we were invited to be a part of another major event close to the date and taxed out for volunteers the board decided to concentrate of the other event.

Steve, if you have a chance to see this,

Thank You !

Please walk away a proud man.

I don't remember a single car from that show,

but I will never forget that Man, talking to me with a tear in his eye.

The best donation I could have ever gotten.

It is so deeply disturbing to hear that people are saying things that are offending Steve. After all the good that he has done all these many years, why would anyone say anything negative about him or any of his work. I do not claim to know any of the facts and i have never been on Farce Book but this is deeply sad to hear.
