1969 Safari 427

In a pickle, after a decade or more have been chasing this car.

100% original untouched woody wagon, Calgary car from new!

Has every option that one could order in 69, still intact!

But there is always a but, car has been sitting 29 years in a field, need I say more on that!!

Can be restored, one would have throw a lot money at it. I would not spend that kind of money.

Current owner, who is second owner called me tonight, I could hardly breath and I am an old man thats not good lol

He wants a fair dollar for it 10k, but I think I has to be rescued at least it would be inside if I did.

Help me guys, am I nuts??? Thanks

That's a tough one without looking at it. Rare and valuable, depending on condition. I'd love to have one, but not as yard art.

Without seeing a picture, I still see dollar signs. Cool wagon though!

That would be a treasure for the collection for you, for sure. So sad it had to rest in a field that long... total shame. Big dollar to start with and depending on the actual condition of the car. One can only imagine the $$$ to restore... If nothing else, a VIN for George would be interesting to see what it did have for options and how many with the 427!

This one was sitting since '85... 350, 3-seat, 9-passenger, load leveling and tilt... has rust in the funniest of places. But I got it running and driving.

Since you have been wanting it for so so long I would think its a no brainer-whats 10k these days-if you have a passion for these cars-buy it.Sounds like it would be fantastic project. Its not about the dollars you spend but the love of the cars, restoring and seeing the finished product that you alone finished.lOVE THE PICS OF THE ONE ABOVE-VERY VERY UNIQUE.LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!

It is tough not knowing the condition, but it's so rare now that, unless it's totally disintegrated, I think I'd do it for 10 grand if I had nearby physical access to it. Rarely do you get a chance for one of these BB cars in any condition.

Sounds VERY cool.  Would love to see pics of it.  I'm apparently good at spending other people's money (right Darryl?), so I would say if it's been your passion for so many years, it would be hard to turn it down.

Vince, thanks for posting pics of yours... very cool as well!!

I have been tryng since 2009 to get a 64 big block Poncho by keeping in touch with owner. I don't really have to have the car but like everyone says a big block original Canadian 409 Pontiac deserves to be saved. It started out at $10,000 in 2009, needed a full restoration for what anybody wants to guess, $50,000 to $75,000 maybe. This past winter he was now up to $20,000 because there were storeage fees to recover from our first conversation. I just put the senile old guy and car out of my mind, until now. Then there is the recover costs and shipping and what not, a nice adventure. I don't think these type of cars in the condition it will obviously be in is worth the money these oldtimers ask but it doesn't really matter because you are going to spend it anyway, so if you overpay to get it what's a few grand when you will be spending another $50,000.`The worst thing would be to get it then not fix it so you have to be motivated.

Thanks for all the input on the Safari, we seller and myself have come an agreement to a full viewing on Saturday!

There will be (2) 427 cars involved one a 1968 Parisienne and the 69 Safari, a couple of the Calgary guys on this site now know who the seller is!

So you know what I am up against with this gentleman. Good guy but tough nut to crack. I will photo both cars if allowed.

So just in case I am showing up with the Sterling, 53' landoll, S570 bobcat, (4) wheels with tires and some cash.

Keep you posted..

Sounds like you've had your heart set on this for some time. My only caution is be realistic.

hope it can be saved, but yes realistic..either as yard art just to say one has it .or a driver, or all out restore cost is always a factor,,some times I can forget that myself at times kinda can take the fun out of it..I get why some give up on their cars good luck and enjoy it

If you get this one, there is a 59 ElCamino in OLeary PEI you can have a crack at, been going to be restored for more than 20 years.
Good luck.
