RE: 1969 Safari 427

Well I showed up at the acreage, where there are a number of cars are mostly Pontiac. With tear in my eye I am 20 years too late for the 427's

The safari has a hole in windshield about 4" round, looks like it has been that way for a number of years, lot weather damage from that on dash area, when you open door cannot breath from mouse smell, it has sunk in the ground resting on frame, unable to access undercarriage, lots of body rust through.

Never seen so many options, floor mounted 8 track, speed minder etc. Unable to open hood to check engine, pull down lever missing!! Does have the 427 side decals though.

Unsure how I would get it out, without doing a lot of damage, need a couple hours just to move stuff out the way, just to get at car.

The Parisienne, gutted interior nothing there not even dash pad, heavy mouse smell as well, quarters are shot right into trunk pan. Frame issues in usual place. Hood opened on this one block #'s match serial number, that was good. A couple flat tires easy to get at to load..

As stated, sad to say think I am 20 plus years too late, hard pressed to pay large for either car. Other than what they once were decades ago, just a memory, made an offer, mood changed quickly with seller. I think he is stuck in the 1970's and sees the cars as when he bought them not as they are now.

Life has not been kind to him, has no family members to look out for him, single never married, from a human point of view feel kinda sad for the man. Believe he is from Quebec.

If he passes a lot of neat old iron there, be a shame to have it just hauled away.

Geez, at least take a saws-all and get the fender flashes, no way to harvest the 427's?

Sorry to say, but it sounds like the guy has a problem mentally of letting go of memories/things.

You can't hook a U-haul on a hearse.

I had a feeling this would be the result. It was nearly 20 years that I was first there, and I was not allowed to look around, but from the glimpses I caught out if the side of my eye everything was pretty far gone and parked in an area with soft ground. It's a good dozen years ago that I made an unannounced visit and was promptly told to leave.

That's sad.... a most likely scenario and true realization, possibly 30 years by the sounds of it... did he own and drive them or pick them up to sell at a later date? since you didn't post, pics of them are were not allowed? Too bad you couldn't get the VIN of the '69... I would have been really interested on her documentation numbers.

As often the case, won't sell, passes away and then a clean up crew swoops in for the cleanup.... yep, sad all the way round.

But stay on track, you may get another call before that happens. (hopefully)
