So Im thinking you are referring to your box and not your power steering lines. I had a manual box with the same issue and I went to a winter grease in it. That was sort of a lighter grade I would say and it worked great for a few years until I swapped it out. Steering felt the same and nothing leaked out.

My suggestion is to put in a Jeep Grand Cherokee one. Easiest swap ever (straight bolt in). Im just a stupid carpenter and it was easy peasy. Too bad you werent closer as I have an extra one here that I finally found again. Lots of info on the web for the swap.

Basically you need a power steering box from a 92-98 Grand Cherokee, a pitman arm from a power steering box from a 64-65 A body, a rag joint from a GM pickup from 80-95 (something like that) a remanufactured pump from your supplier like Napa. Only thing a little out of the ordinary is you have to get one hose made up unless you can find some fittings for the change. The reason is the fitting on the GC box is metric and the fitting on the pump is imperial. Hose cost me around $60, steering box $90, new pump $80, pitman arm $30, and the rag joint was $5 giving you a complete unit for about $275. You then have 3 turn steering pin to pin. Like I said I'm probably one of the weakest mechanics on this forum and it was a breeze. As previously mentioned there is good reference on the web too. I'm more than happy to answer any other questions that may come up.

Ill try find the exact years but there is a pretty good range. Im guessing roughly 80 to 95 or so but will check later or tomorrow.

Easiest way to find the info is just google up Grand Cherokee steering box for Chevelle. Lots of info including some YouTubes.
