Car Spotting at the local Shell Station - a (nice) Bricklin and a Cobra Replica

Apparently Shell has the reputation for having the best quality gas - as a consequence I see a lot of performance cars filling up at the local shell

The Bricklin was spotted on Saturday - I talked to the owner for a bit - it is the later version with the Ford engine - he says the maintenance parts for these cars are getting scarce because a lot of the brake and suspension parts are shared with the 71-74 Javelins( which are not all that common either ) - he had just spent a lot of money buying an NOS set of brake rotors

The cobra replica I saw today ( Sunday) - never has seen one in yellow - has a 351 Windsor built into a 418 in itIMG_3164[1].JPGIMG_3173[1].JPGIMG_3174[1].JPG

Always liked those Bricklins (other than the powerplants they used!). One day at Regent and 59, 3 of them pulled in to the restaurant we were at. I think this one was likely one of them.

Looks like he drives that Cobra, judging by the bugs on it!

Altona car show today, I wonder if he's headed there.

Both are very nice cars. Seeing them being driven and the power plants are the best parts!

Obviously you've never had a ride in one with an appropriate driver.  Sleeping is the last thing you would be doing!

I used to hate Fords but I will confess to being a closet Ford guy now (because of that beautiful 64 Galaxie XL that JohnneeD got me to pick up for him in Manitoba. I had it in the garage for a week before he took it home.) I love it, 352, 4 speed, factory air virgin car.

So yes, there is a slight hope for me and Fords.

Man, I can't believe I'm posting this, I might delete it when I sober up.....

Ha. Ha. We all know that you do not drink. Rather, I do believe that this is a simple case of "with age comes wisdom" which some of us acquired much sooner. Hee Hee.

I'm actually not a total abstainer. About 5 years ago my doctor as well as my cousin who teaches heart research both twisted my arm to start drinking a glass of red wine per day. My family on both sides has a bad heart history and both felt it was prudent to drink red wine (disgusting stuff....) So I do that.

And I totally blame the red wine for eroding the logical part of my brain. Before I started with that, I would never have said a good word about anything Ford.

Well then, I would surmise that this is also a case (or glass) of "better late than never."
