Well, made it up there & back no issues,80 to 90 mile round trip. slight hesitation at 55 but nowhere as bad as before, may try a set of E 3's in it, & another can of sea foam in gas, almost acts like there could be water in gas on light throttle??? Pulls "REALLY" strong on hard pedal!!! LOVE IT!!!

Have a punch that has a round head on it, lifter should move about a 1/4" when you depress the plunger!! cover it in oil & start pumping plunger till no air bubbles come out the bleeder hole on side of body!!

Not to my knowledge, unless years ago, but as I said it sat for 17 yrs. so likely will need it. "winter project"

I hope you'll get that clip out and post what went haywire in that lifter..These sorts of thing ,I find, give me tunnel vision sometimes and can cause frustration for sure.Once I had a pesky top end "tick" in a small block chev and could not figure it out for the life of me until a boat racing friend said I had a chunk of carbon stuck in one of the combustion chambers....A bit of water down the carb at sustained rpm burnt that off and voila all was well!

UP Date!!!On driving Impala into Port Perry last week the "miss" [ hesitation] was gone?? But then I noticed manual choke slightly out, Ah Haw, its' running lean, as miss came back on pushing it in. Enriched carb, 1/4 turn, better, 1/8 turn more " PERFECT" As for lifter, took it apart, found a small piece of what I think was [ Black] carbon chunk, very small, that floated in?? re -assembled lifter after flushing it out, and plunger now worked!! Anyone need a "spare" ????? This problem has driven me "NUTS" since purchasing this car after losing my others in fire,& did put it on KIJIJI for 2 hrs I was so PI$$ED with it [4 replies] but was determined to find the cause after that "fit"!!! It's a totally different vehicle to drive now, tons of power [all 8 cyl.helps] smooth on Hwy. & takes off from stop 100% better. I'm HAPPY!!!!

Cliff, if I hadn't left the choke out I might still be chasing hesitation, & that put me on track!!! Could have lived with the slight hesitation as it wasn't all that bad, I just knew it was there!! Lifter swap was the "BIGGIE" that got it "hitting" all 8 cyl.
