Nice Original 66 Grande at Cruise Night

Tom (1966-Grande-paris), Randy (GLHS60) and I met up at Cruise Night in Sherwood Park Tuesday evening. We noticed a car we havent seen before. A very nice white 66 Grande Parisienne. We chatted with the owner for probably close to an hour. Turns out he bought the car new in Camrose which is approximately 80km south. He said he traded in his 64 Parisienne on it. The car has 32000 original miles and was always parked in his garage. He said he always had a company truck so didnt need to drive the car much. Hence the low miles. Besides regular maintenance stuff all thats been done is a repaint. Its a 327 Powerglide, buckets console car. He said he would check out this site.  Anyway heres a few pictures. Youll have to excuse as it was near sunset. Except for the actual sunset picture. That one is cool.

Yeah, well you know who's attention you got with this thread............ Wow, what a car.

And what a great shot of the cars together. I love the contrast with the black and the white 66's!

I sure hope he shows up here.

Between the feature car, this white car and the red 427 66 Grande Parisienne that was in the Ontario show, I'm feeling pretty inferior with my lowly "high mileage" Strato Chief. These cars are amazing. I love it that there's still specimens like these 3 out there.

It is a beautiful survivor to be sure

Just a question. Is that crossed flag emblem on the dash an owner embellishment.?

( it actually doesn t look bad)

Yes, certainly not original. I can't figure out what it's from.

Because he believes in love at first sight. Who could blame him, the '66 Grande Parisienne is a sexy car.

As for the car, WOW! Very well preserved, and a great colour combo. Buckets with headrests.

Beautiful 66, can't be too many original 66 owners around let alone 66 cars. Did the 66 come with the built in headrests? Is the mileage 32k or 132k? Seems the odometer numbers are uneven, which could indicate that it rolled over the 100k mark, nevertheless it's a car I like regardless of the mileage.

Those headrests are an option, an something not seen real often especially on our Canadian cars it seems.

I would be betting on the miles being original, and one reason being those seats. I can see the covers on the seats are most certainly original, not replacements (as nobody makes them). Those 60's odometers are notorious for having the numbers not lined up.

The owner said original mileage. As I mentioned before, he said he always had a company truck to drive. As for the headrests, they were an option. Ken (66 Grande guy) also has them on his 66 Grande.

its a sweetheart all right. Sure is nice to see these low mileage machines just to remind me of how lovely these cars are.

As for head rests, they were an option but I've only seen them 3 or 4 times on all the cars on this forum over the years.

They were option A81.

I guess nobody in Canada felt they were worth ordering?
