Bob Seger --- once again

About 6 years ago Bob Seger came to Winnipeg and I figured when he was 67 he must be almost done touring, (plus I got free tickets from a supplier of our's at work!) so I went, and LOVED it.

A few months back I read that he was on his Final Tour and it so happened Fargo ND was on the list, 180 miles south of here and only about 25 minutes from my favourite wrecking yard of all. Bonus.

Just back from 3 days of R & R, a bit of time auto wrecking and certainly the highlight was 74 year old Bob Seger still belting out over 20 songs. Man, that guy still has it. I left the arena last night with sore facial muscles from smiling for 2 hours solid... what a great show!

I'd listen to 1000 hours of him vs. 10 seconds of what the kids have to choose from now.

I would rather tear out my ears than listen to the rap crap that is out there day. I almost feel sorry for these young folks today, not knowing what actual good music is. I know i know i know it is generational but i would rather listen to the music my parents listened to than the crap that is out today. My love for music will always be mostly 1960's, 1970's and some late 1950's. There is very little that i like from the 1980's and beyond. Hopefully no one has been offended. Cheers.

Saw him in concert when he was 69 years old.  He played for a solid 2 hours and to this day it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen (and I've seen a lot of them).

Glad to hear he's still doing what he loves best!

Here's a story about my meeting Bob Seger.

In 1967 I worked at CKLW television in Windsor as a junior film editor(real film).

Being junior guy I had to work a lot on weekends and nights.

Reflecting back,it was actually a great job. I had to edit movies (real 16 mm film)

to fit into time slots, splice commercials together that would be played during programs and movies.

also I would be there in case a film broke and needed mending.

Remember those TV notices,

One moment please, or we have temporary lost our picture.....followed by the music interlude?

That was usually why....the film may have broken and needed repair.

On Saturdays CKLW had a teen show-"Swingin' Time" with Robin Seymour and always had a band or artist

on the show (much like American Bandstand).

Being at work I had a behind the camera view of the show and the artists who were guests.

This one particular Saturday the guests were Bob Seger and the Last Heard.

Bob and the band did a number of songs,"Heavy Music" was the one I remember that he did this particular Saturday.

Bob was back stage with a pair of maracas and practicing throwing the maracas in the air, spinning around and catching them.

I was watching him, when he spun around and missed and they crashed onto the floor in pieces.

He stood there looking at the pieces and we looked at each other...I said I can get some packing tape, and I did, and we could fix them....

All in about 5 minutes. We had the maracas taped together just in time before he had to hit the stage.

So I like to think that with my help that day  Bob went on to bigger and better things.....biggrin

The maracas were there on Saturday but I didn't see any tape on them and Bob wasn't throwing them around!

The original maracas are probably in the Packing and Duct tape Hall of Fame, and don't forget Bob is 74 now....

probably has a bad back and moving too fast would probably get his hemorrhoids activated. hmm

Love Seger, own and listen to no rap, but I heard a rapper being interviewed the other day and loved one comment. He was British and being asked about Brexit, he said I hate all politicians, I even hate the ones I like.
