Big block 68 2+2 Convert

SOOO.....the story goes...i heard about an auction a couple of weeks ago from a good friend who knew i've been looking for my old 68 2+2 He came across a 2+2 convertible in an auction that i was unable to attend. I said to my good friend, wouldn't it be crazy if it was a big block car? So my friend goes to look at it the day before and lo and behold, there was a big block in the trunk and a 4 speed....not too  many cars can store their engine in the trunk! So the story goes, i could not attend the auction and my buddy chose not to bid....the car was apparently fairly complete but missing its interior... REGARDLESS, you don't want to know what this car sold for. I almost threw up when i heard....and its not because the price was high. If i had only been in town that day. What are the production numbers for  68 2+2 rags? I think 1200 ish? how many with big block and 4 gear? No very many i'd guess. The VIN number would tell all, and i know where the car ended up so hopefully get to have a look at it one day. $375.00 at auction .....no

749 total 68 2+2 convertibles. Big Block 4spd very rare. Was the car rotten? Even if it was engine and tranny worth way more than that. Someone got a steel.

Before you get too carried away, ensure it's actually a big block car, and that the engine (I presume 396) is correct as well as the tranny.

I'm not that familiar with 68's, but there should be some tell-tale signs of a big block car. I know for 1969 & 1970, the big block cars had a 1/4" return line back to the fuel tank (the a/c cars had that also, and I've seen a handful of small block cars with it as well).

So, do your research before getting too excited.

I'd be excited to buy a car with a big block and a 4 speed in the trunk for that price any time, even if it's not an original big block car!

Just saying it might be a late 70's or 80's 454 in the trunk.

I'd still gladly pay $375 for that with a 4 speed. Free car!

I know right, as i mentioned in my earlier post, everything would have to be confirmed, but nonetheless still pretty cool. Just my luck it would be a numbers matching one !! Cest la vie!

Body tag would say if it was a real 4spd car.
