I love it. You guys have a sense of humour. One of the best things about Canada is how we can laugh at ourselves...

I'm a member of the River City Classics Car Club, and unfortunately the weather hasn't participated very well the past couple years. I missed last years show as I was out of town, and while they had their Saturday Night Burn-Out Show as planned, it was fairly cool & rainy for the Sunday Show & Shine so they had a limited turn-out.

This year they cancelled the Saturday Night Burn-Out Show, but kept the Sunday Show & Shine as planned. I'm surprised they got more than 20 cars.

Normally this is a large show with about 1200-1300 cars, where they raise a good amount of funds which they spread around to local charities. They did some juggling last year to be able to provide the charities close to their normal amount, but not sure how much juggling they can do this year. It costs the club quite a bit to stage the event (port-a-potty rentals, golf cart rentals, 2 way radio rentals, public address system rentals) so they may have trouble covering their costs this year, let alone distribute excess to charity.

I saw Laura from RCC(?) post on facebook yesterday that the show was going on;
Frankly I was aghast, and personally wondered if she owned or knew anyone who owned a valuable classic car.

I am surprised that as many showed up as did;
This is a fine example of why most organizers have a "rain date" - I'd wager that if it was even moved to next weekend, where there is no precipitation, and a daily high forecasted above zero, several hundred cars would show up.

I work in High River and do the commute daily, so I know full well how dicey parts of the drive can get with the first couple snow storms;
Everyone I spoke to was in disbelief of the apparent obliviousness of RCC to forge ahead.

When my car is done, rain ect won't scare me away from a drive, but even I wouldn't be attending on a day like yesterday.

Even though "snow and shine" is a punny twist on "show and shine" - there cannot be any shine amidst a snowfall of any sort.
