So brought the 69 home today.

My wife helped me make the decision so I brought it home today. Or put it this way, she didnt discourage me. Cant believe she has put up with me for 37 years. No time limit. Not sure what I can get at in the next little while otherwise will be spring time. Think we got another solid frame so maybe Clint and I may have to take a run out east with convertible and hardtop frames.

I know pics can hide a lot of sins, but that almost looks too good to be scrapped.  You just don't see cars in that kind of condition for sale cheap on the east coast.

There must be some major problems with it that aren't obvious to the eye?

I would suggest (lightly), that if you can't get at it until the spring anyhow, maybe see if you can find a CP member who would be willing to take it on as a project?  Just a thought, although I can see the value to other members in keeping their cars going with parts from it as well.  Either way it's a win, I suppose.  Much better than wasting away where it was sitting before.

Mark, Id be happy to sell it to someone as a project but....  It needs fender repairs, quarters or repair, power train probably, paint, complete interior, rubber, and who knows what else. Ive said it before with these years of cars, the best deals are the cars that are finished. Good example is one here in town little over a year ago. I went and looked at it for Todd. 69 survivor, rust free, very acceptable paint, just had to turn the key and drive it across the country. Pretty sure it was under 100 thousand miles on it. $8000.  These models are bargains in my eyes. Im happy to do whatever interest is shown but as of now there is more interest in the parts. Im not in a rush though if someone wants the whole car. Its parked comfortably in my back yard with a car cover over it.

Once it's home, you can try what I suggested re getting the steering column unlocked.

I can also send you photos of how to properly remove the lock cylinder, as once the lock plate is removed, it's easy to remove the signal switch. then with the signal switch removed, the lock cylinder is easy to get out if you know where to insert a small metal ruler.

With the cylinder out, a locksmith can read the code on it and cut you a square key (E code for 1969). Same square key should work on the doors. Sorry, but can't help you with the trunk / glove box round key.

Clint, I did the 5 minute procedure as it wasn't a priority for me with the column shift column. Drill with 4 different bit sizes and presto, out of gear and wheel turning nicely. Just have to get a little faster to be a good crook.

Yeah, I didn't get any keys with it so shouldn't need any now. Just have to bust into the trunk which is pretty easy..

Points well taken and I agree completely.  You've convinced me that the best plan would be to part it out.  Looks like there are lots of good pickings on it for somebody!

I had a couple minutes tonight to look into the trunk and what a surprise as not a speck of rust. Quick look and the inner fenders look just perfect. Pretty solid car.

Is the car black & the interior colour? What does the trim tag show?

Its starting to sound too nice to part out.

Yeah, someone splashed a flat black paint job on it.  Door panels and seat are parchment I think is the name.

I have to be careful.  Lucky the 3 64s are still in Alberta.  Just have my 64,  my little truck on the hoist for too long, and now this.  Neighbours can only see this one under cover.

Funny you say that. Neighbour is putting in a 6' fence in the next few weeks. He has to have it there because of their pool. The cedars at the back take care of the rest of the neighbours.
