For the last 10 years I've been pretty lucky flying under the radar with Photobucket. I use them to host all the photos and banners used on Poncho. While I have never used up my storage allotment I have been blowing past the bandwidth allowed with my plan. I was on a plan no longer available which cost about $35/year. Well I got my third warning today that I was going to be booted if I didn't step up to a plan with unlimited bandwidth so now the yearly fee is about $177 Cdn. The sales of the T-shirts was good timing as this wasn't an expense I was expecting.
So thanks again to all of those who bought shirts, sold items as CP fundraisers and those who just have donated money. I appreciate your support!
I also have a feature car for December. I think you are all going to enjoy this one!
In my opinion, photbucket is a sinking ship.
I'd suggest that you do what ever you can to migrate away from their services.
I was WAYYYY under the limit for free stuff, but I started getting what I suspected to be bogus emails saying I was over my alotment, and threats of losing my stuff if I didn't pay them - so I tested them;
I deleted EVERYTHING from my account;
EVERYTHING.
Still getting bandwith emails and warnings I suspected, I still was receiving threatening emails;
I closed my account (which had nothing in it!).
If I recall correctly, after a while, I stopped getting emails.
Photobucket was great while it lasted, but I guess their revenue (advertising) model wasn't working.. that or they figured if people felt they depended on them, they might be able to get money out of them.

I agree but unfortunately I have hundreds of photos on there- every monthly banner, every feature car etc. If I switched to another site I'd also have to go into each post I made and change the URL.

so does the host server have insufficient space alotment? these image files should't take up too much space. you could make one of the forthcoming monthly cars the first one where the image is on your server, and just leave dead links to the older pictures, then update them as time permits (I'd suggest going from most recent to oldest).

I'm retired now, from IBM, with some time on my hands. I could help with the URL changes.
I dunno Scott. It would be a TON of work. You'd have to match each photo with the proper post, then manually edit the post and change the URL. I bet it would take hundreds of hours to do.
