The Paint Prison sentence begins

Dropped the car off to my Ghost Buster today.

The paint is still shinny yes, but this car has some demons furious

080ab.jpg

The left rear quarter, where that dorky little pipe was, has now cracked open

083a.jpg

The other side was the victim of a leaking battery stored in the trunk,(before I bought it)

084a.jpg

And that door,

081a.jpg

Very old repair that has the bondo separating from the steel.

They started grinding the door right away just to see what was there, looks like a 30 year old repair.

I will visit the car again after all the paint stripped,

The body shop has made some good progress ,

Please remember, I hired a ghost buster and in my opinion, worth every cent.

001a.jpg

002a.jpg

I had left the glass in for the snowy trip there so I couldn't get the handles off,

I offered to do more of the disassembly at the shop but there is some other projects in there that the owners of them wouldn't want people around.

003a.jpg

Take a good look at this 1/4

She had rubbed up against something.

But who ever fixed it, slopped on the mud and did not pull anything out.

At the deepest, the mud measured 3/8 of a inch.

001.jpg

Got to a point where he got out the body hammer and chipped it off.

The biggest problem is rust was forming under all that junk.

The hood patches are all done, no surprises just the usual.

The fenders are coming off and will be repaired correctly.

They had been patched and welded to the rockers.

All in all, there is more original steel there than I expected.

only small patches needed.

I have been summoned to the shop Monday.

More pics to come.

On my last visit there wasn't much change however I am the side project.

#1 was on the rotisserie and mirror black.

Sorry can't take photos of that car, it's not mine.

That body has to be back on the chassis soon at that car has an appointment for a custom interior in a couple of weeks.

While it's gone, the Parisienne becomes #1

I asked him to call me at a certain stage because I need pics.

To share of course.

Got called to the shop yesterday.

The fenders are almost done.

005a.jpg

The structure on the inside has also been restored.

004a.jpg

What my Ghost buster wanted to talk to me about was that there is rust forming between the fender subframe and the fender.

The only way to get it is to pop the two pieces apart.

Another Ghost busted !

006a.jpg

All the worry about those emblems,

They were glued on after all.

001a.jpg

I have a set with the prongs attached but, not as nice as these.

This is what she looked like this morning,

008b.jpg

Then we decided to get something out of the way,

010a.jpg

I was not going to touch the engine bay originally but she is over due for a clean up.

I'll dress the motor up while its out.

The motor mount on the driver's side was broken anyways.

I can't get over how clean the front body mount area is.

The crossmember in these cars is always perfect. The GM engines provided 50 years of oilspray starting probably at one year of driving.

Now is a good time Randy to change that heater core and blower motor.

Thanks for everyone's support.

Those area code (519) people will get to see the car first !

Really guys, we need a (519) get together in the spring.

Less than 6 weeks to go !

No matter what the ground hog says.

First coat of primer on the body.

Block sanding next.

Big Problem with the hood in the usual spots.

But no surprise,

this car lived most of it's life in a Port Colborne cottage, damp basement garage.

Sometimes it sat for years.

The condensation must had incredible.

Good progress! You must be happy. Have a colour pinned down yet Randy?

The grey reminds me of my old grey ghost,

Progress sounds great there Randy. Too bad we have so many miles between us as that hood Ive got is really nice except for one little patch to do by where someone could put a tach.

Spent the morning cleaning the front frame and suspension.

We are going to give that area a nice coat of black paint before everything goes back together.

The work continued on the "Hood from Hell"

Brought home some cut out pieces.

I had this car coated in oil in 2013 and the parts are still oily.

So the damage was done before I bought it.
