1966 SD update

An update to latest SD project.  You will see the doc's for the car, not a big block as hoped for after seeing big block motor mounts but still nIce little L30.  Since I do not have original engine friends thinking we should put this jewel in for power.  Fun, but told my friend to put it his SD that we are just blocking and sending to the paint booth soon.  It has a tricked out Glide so I told him closer to original than my M20 car. We have a few small blocks so might build a motors for both cars, or go big block or ??????

I am  looking for the front louvers, rear 1/4 script, rear trunk lid SD emblem, (actually two because my friend needs a trunk emblem also, we have the glove box emblems still original from both cars), and horn button.  because my car came with tach some people say there would have been a clock in console instead of Beaumont plate, any help on info for this question?  Missing some trim on my car because pervious owner made it into Chevelle clone.  My original sheet metal has all original holes that were just bondo filled so it is all being exposed as I take back to bare metal.

There is a guy in London Ontario, Kijiji,  advertising a bunch of Parts under the title of, "1967 Beaumont Sport Deluxe Parts".  the picture shows a set of 66 Sport Deluxe script, the fender/door panel emblems/console horn button parts I need but he has bunch of other extra parts like grills for a 67 that I don't need but he is not willingly to break up the lot of parts or ship out west to Vancouver where I am.   I cannot figure out why no one out east has not jumped on these parts, they look good and he has some other stuff I don't need and the shipping for everything would be a killer even if he would ship it out to Vancouver.  Any help or at least some other SD guy I thought would be jumping on these parts.  What am I missing?

Wow, a documented 327 4 speed factory tach SD is pretty darn desirable. It's your car, but I'd be making that car original! Pretty rare I'd bet.

The documentation says 3318 produced. I that is all custom coupes. It also say 524  had the 4 speed And A51 option (SD). I wonder if that makes it easier to figure out how many were automatic SD car??. To me 524 seems a high number for 4 speed SD cars in 1966. Any thoughts?

Its funny how they broke the numbers down to 200 with the m20, and u16 in the first documentation (2019), and then did not bother to do it on the documentation in 2013. I think they could break it down if they wanted to for the 327 A51 powerglide cars. (I Wish they would.)

I specifically asked about the number of cars with that combination. I had hoped to find out how many cars were Mist Blue that year because I read somewhere that a 66 Chevelle SS of the same year, the Mist Blue/black interior was the rarest colour combo in that year for an SS Chevelle.
I assume that the 2D paint was because of the vinyl top moldings, D99, I will probably add a black vinyl top to the car because I like the looks of a car with the vinyl top. Maybe?, I am just starting to get ready to lift the car off the frame in the next couple of days so paint etc., is a couple of months away. I am suppose to be finishing my 71 Lemans Sport, (455/turbo 400/12 bolt posi, ex 6 SECOND 1/8 race car), That I am putting back on street for fun but interest has shifted!!!!

70 SS Acadian your car looks great, just wondering, my car has rocker moldings including on rear quarter behind the wheel. Wondering if yours came with them also and just have not installed yet ?
Also I like Pontiac Rally Wheels and wondering if I went with 14 Rally wheels would original hub caps fit on the rally wheels. ) I have 15 's but no 14's and I have a set of what I think are the original wheel covers. I have seen pics with, "Rally Wheels", installed and they look good, like they were born on/for the car. On my 66 Nova SS I have 14/6 Corvette style rallies and depending on my mood can have the caps and rings or I put on the original hubcaps, so have different look in 5 minutes. (I like original hub caps, but my racing buddies are also putting rings and disc brake flat caps on when I don't pay attention. LOL)

The Maple Leaf clock block-off for the console went onto Beaumonts without the tach, although you could leave the block-off & run with both the tach & clock in the dash. If somebody has the 64-69 Beaumont Parts Book they could verify.

The L30 is a great engine for a '66 Beaumont. The Powerglide, as much as people deride them, actually soak up less power but offer a crappy ratio spread when you are wringing out power. The 327 c.i.d. + versions were the toughest 'glides.

You mean the tach and clock side by side in the same dash? Man, I'm still learning Beaumonts! I though it was either or.

What I am wondering, because my car has the dash tach, did they mount a clock in the console or did it remain with the arrow head plate. Anyone had a look at the ad on Kijiji Ont., "1967 Beaumont sport deluxe parts", a few parts I would like to get but hw will not break up package deal, and/or ship out west to Vancouver. I need the script for the 66, maybe the horn button/console plate if for 66. He says he has some other parts but all you 67 guys what is the deal, I thought these parts would have been jumped on.
It is amazing how close my car is to the, "70 SS ACADIAN'S", car. They are almost twins.
I have been looking thru some blocks and have found a standard bore, "3859180 casting", but not sure if this is correct block... also have three "194" Chevy 11 blocks but no 327 Chevy 11 blocks and a couple "0010" four bolt blocks laying around so not sure what I will use to build for this car. I have the correct casting number M20 and will leave the 12 bolt posi in it despite not having a G80 option listed.
Starting to have with this winter project!
Thanks for all the help and info.

If youre referring to this one: www.kijiji.ca/v-other-auto-parts-and-accessories/london/1967-beaumont-sport-deluxe-parts/1465848512
...I dont see a 66 horn button there. Also, the horn ring for 66 would be a two spoke.

According to what the paper work actually says "Number Produced for sale in Canada (Same model number only) 3318
(200 with M20 & U16; 524 with M20)"

So out of the total 3318 73617 model cars built 200 came with four speed M20 & tach U16 combination, 524 came with the M20 four speed.

Nowhere does it say this 524 cars with A51 and M20.

You have to be careful how you interpret what's actually printed on the page.

So how many A51 & M20 73617 cars are there? Out of the 524 73617 cars they state came with M20 who knows?
GM of Canada states only out of 3318 73617 cars built 524 came with M20 four speed manual.

Whatever that number is for A51 & M20 73617 cars built. It will be based against model number 73617.
You have to remember 73617 cars include all V8's 283, 327 & 396 V8's

When talking production numbers you have to be careful and stay specific as to what you have been told.

Carl, you are correct and that is what I meant. Either the clock in the dash & a maple leaf blank in the console, or a tach in the dash & the clock moves to the console.

What years did they have both a tach in the dash and a clock in the dash?

Certainly no clock and tach in the dash in 66. One or the other.  (I do recall some kind of a police version in which something was different in the dash?...)

Are you thinking of the rare cluster that came in the 67 GTO's with a hood tach maybe? I think it was unique. The member who posted above me here, 68sd396rag had one in his Beaumont. He may have a picture of it.

Interesting re the GTO and the good tach.
I recall a 66 Beaumont police car (perhaps a ghost car) having something different. Either tach related or maybe even speedo related?
If I remember Ill chime in. Now back to our thread...

67 GTO's had hood tachs as an option I do believe which would have allowed for the clock with a speed minder, idiot gauges and a low fuel warning light-but in order for you to have the the real gauges with this set-up it had to be taken apart and put back together with welding on the backside of the cluster etc..GM did not offer it as far as i have ever seen. Not sure of the reason for it as I am not that smart to figure it out electronically but for whatever reason that's the way they were from what I remember

I thought you had a pretty unique cluster in your 66 John? What was that cluster from?
