Looks like a Tesla Model X.  There should be no reference to Mustang on this whatsoever...

To me it looks very similar to a Subaru Outback without a grill and door handles......no

I suppose all the smaller SUVs look somewhat alike these days.  There's only so much you can do with a 2-box arrangement...

Yes, and the fact they have to meet stringent pedestrian collision standards is likely another reason all new cars are starting to look the same.

Very true, Todd.  There are a lot more blunt-nosed vehicles out there now because of it.

I agree with MC. As a lifelong Ford man who has owned numerous models of Mustangs and still do, I would not have put this classic muscle car name on a mere SUV. I know it is a marketing strategy that may or may not work. This Mach E does not look any better or worse than any of the other clones out there. I must admit that I do like the sequential tail lights and the fact that the signal lights are red, not yellow. As with most entries on this site, personal preference, personal bias, personal experience and, all to often, ignorance, play a significant role is shaping our opinions. I am no different. I am a Ford man who just happens to own an old Pontiac. However, I would have given this SUV a different name. Most people would not recognize a car brand let alone an SUV brand from a half a block away. It is no different with other consumer products. People often like or dislike products merely because of the name, not because they have any personal experience, knowledge, or awareness.

Perhaps just "Mach E" would have been sufficient.

It sounds like Ford wants to cash in on the Mustang brand by sticking it on an electric SUV, but they don't seem to realize that the reason the brand is special is that it always was applied to a 2-door sports coupe/pony car/muscle car.  Diluting it like this will only decrease the value of the brand.

If one reads between the lines, we could surmise that maybe Ford is actually planning to get rid of the Mustang in its current form and this is the first step in the transition of Mustang from a sports coupe to an SUV.  Ford has already started to get rid of all its cars except Mustang, so maybe this is the next one to go?  Keep the name, ditch the car?

It will be a sad day in the automotive world if this happens, but I feel it's not completely unlikely.  Coupes have been dropping like flies in the past couple of decades and SUVs have taken over as the vehicle of choice for the mainstream customer.  I mean, before the Cayenne was introduced the idea of Porsche selling an SUV seemed ridiculous...

Coming soon... the Corvette electric SUV...

No one could have said this any better and total agreement. That is probably exactly what is going to happen and yes it is sad.

I wondered the same thing Todd and this vehicle is not much of a transition , more of a thud than a transition calling this anything Mustang. Seems a weird name to attach to anything SUV.

Maybe call it EDSEL or Meteor Mach E?

Id buy an electric vehicle if the price, range, and charging times and places were convenient/competitive with my budget and needs. My daily driver is a diesel with a range of 1000 kms plus and I travel to Ottawa frequently, only 1 stop for fuel. A range of say 250 kms would change that to 6 stops or more.
