RE: Tesla Cybertruck Full Metal Jacket Order one today.

Man, that's ugly.

Honestly, if I were to ever own an electric pickup truck (there's about a 0% chance of that), it would be a Rivian.  They are such a well thought out package, and are not overly ugly, actually they look good once you get your head around it.

I sure hope this is a joke, this thing is uglier than our countries leader. hmmyawnyawndisbeliefnonodohevileyebleh.

Unfortunately not. Apparently it's one tough truck though. During the reveal they took a sledgehammer to the body and there weren't any dents. Also shot a 9mm at it. The glass was supposed to be as strong but two side windows shattered. I can't remember the towing capacity but I do know it was high- something like 17000lbs.. but that design...

It looks exactly like the cars I used to draw when I was 6. I always knew it would be produced!

Fugly thing but some interesting design features, that tailgate and under bed and other storage is kinda neat and if that body is rust proofed, which I think it is, that is innovative. The shape is definitely "outside the box". The box being all those North American pickups that keep getting a bigger grill and higher off the ground. Just a bigger box truck shape with no cargo capacity.

I prefer the look and height of the late 80's and early 90's trucks. If they ever had to make a move into improved aerodynamics, we might see some changes and a reduction in fuel consumption?
I prefer the Rivian to this thing, but the Tesla may be quite a bit cheaper.

For instance, the single-motor base model of the Cybertruck will allegedly get 250 miles or more on a full battery, with a 3,500-pound payload limit and 7,500-pound towing capacity all for basically the same price as the entry-level Model 3 and Model Y.

https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/22/20976539/tesla-cybertruck-test-drive-electric-truck-pickup-video-features-price-elon-musk

We were riding in the midlevel, dual-motor version of the truck, which is supposed to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds and will eventually start at $49,900. But while the prototype truck was quick, the sensation of speed was dulled by its size and (undisclosed) weight. It didnt really provide that thrilling jolt forward that Teslas are known for.

It could be something like this with improved looks and more range and faster charge batteries that causes GM FORD and Ram and Toyota too to make some changes. The top end vehicle has a 14,000 lb towing capacity. I have never driven in an electric vehicle, I did have an Accord hybrid for a drive a long time ago, it worked like a turbo, it had a gas V6 + the electrics.

I think the pure electrics will be much less complicated mechanically than hybrids or gas vehicles, plus they have no transmissions or exhaust system and a whole bunch fewer sensors since it has no internal combustion. I may buy one in 10 years or so.

Or maybe it's a cross between a Pontiac Aztek and a VW Thing from the 70's.

I'd love to to see how well the telescopic ramp works in the real world (a quadrunner covered in mud rolling up it).

Ford Challenges Tesla Cybertruck

https://driving.ca/ford/f-150/auto-news/news/ford-challenges-tesla-to-an-official-truck-tug-of-war

Tesla CEO Elon Musk plainly says his pickup is a "better truck than an F-150." Ford is taking issue with that claim.

While releasing a series of specs last week for Cybertruck, which is scheduled to start deliveries as soon as late 2021, Musk called up a video of the the pickup in a tug-of-war against Ford's best-selling F-150.

He tweeted a clip of the test on Sunday showing his vehicle pulling a screeching Ford model up a hill.

Ford thinks Musk was making an apples-to-oranges comparison. The video the Tesla chief executive officer tweeted appears to show a two-wheel-drive version of the F-150 against an all-wheel-drive Cybertruck.

Other details that could have factored in which pickup won out include curb weight and tire type.

Sundeep Madra, vice-president of Ford X, the automaker's unit for developing new business models, challenged Musk on Monday to send Ford a Cybertruck.
