348 ENGINE core not complete Details as follows -

July 58 casting date --July 58 assembly date -codes as 250 HP - -

Nov 57 casting date TRI POWER intake with Rochester carbs [not original ] -

was Hot Tanked years ago Stored ever since

Rust on Head faces and valve seat areas -

Bores not rusty but will probably need >040 bore at least Crank was wrapped OK -

CAR engine not a truck block -missing Distributor $ 3200 OBO

It would cost far more than that to ("properly") rebuild that historical Chevrolet motor. To who ever the buyer is biggrin.....................SURPRISE.

Growing up I had a neighbor that told me he bought a '58 Impala convertible new - with a 235 3-speed! That 348 would make a sweet swap into that car if it still exists. Or if you ditch the Chevy logos on the valve covers, a '58 Strato Chief 2-door post (used to be a 6-cyl one in Dundas, ON for decades).

Carbs each have choke housings, it should have only a choke on the middle carb so these are just plain old 2 gcs. They require a fair amount of cost to work on a tripower and I doubt they have been done. The whole deal is way overpriced IMHO. But nice to have in a 58.

I bought 2 348 engines last year for $1500.00, not each one but the pair. Complete engines carb to oil pan with all accessories and flywheels. One is a 58 Impala 348-250 hp, the other is a 60 Impala 348-280 hp. They need rebuilds, but they're not easy to find these days. The tri-power setup is worth a fair bit if that's what you want, but be ready for constant adjustments.
