Hmmm... my memory tells me I might have had a blue Rodger Dodger back in the day, but it was a long time ago... and would have received lots of 'patina' through actually playing with them.

I have a question... how come there seems to be so many still in blister packs?  What kid could resist immediately ripping open the package and playing with any new Hot Wheel you would get?  Certainly not me...

I think the rarest Hot Wheels I ever had is the 1974 Road King Mountain Mining truck. It was only available in the set which I got for Christmas that year.
I hear mint examples are worth $1000..

Hey Todd now that must be rare for sure! Never seen it..even has red lines . I have a few oldies left but they're pretty beat up. Dated 66 thru 72. My brother and I got these toys as kids. I passed them on to my son. One day when he was small I took him to work with me on a Sat along with a few cherished hot wheels to play with.....I caught my apprentice showing him how to beat them to a pulp with a hammer on the concrete floor!...I'm afraid some of best ones met that fate...hmmm

LOL. Many of mine ended up behind the wheels of my parent's 69 Pontiac...

In 1968 when Hot Wheels first came out i was 10 years old and i started collecting them then. From 1968 to 1971 i collected all the Hot Wheels that came out. I had most of them along with the tracks, the loops and the power houses. By the time i was 13 or 14 i felt i was too old for this Hot Wheel stuff and stopped collecting. The sad thing is that all my Hot Wheels vanished. I had and still have six siblings that are younger than me and they saw to it that all my stuff was either destroyed or vanished. When i see the values of my original Hot Wheels it just makes me want to cry. no

I sold all my original Hotwheels in the mid-eighties.

I remember on Halloween '69, when I was 9 years old, a well-to-do household was handing out Hotwheels to trick or treaters. I ran home and changed up my costume twice, so I could run back over (about a mile away) and get another Hotwheel!biggrin Got 3 Hotwheels that night!!!

Good score Darryl!
I remember the Western Fair in London had those crane games where you'd put in a dime and turn the crank to "aim" a little crane over a prize. One machine had a Matchbox model (from the era where they came in a box, not a blister pack). I tried and tried to get it without any luck. Would have been cheaper to go to K-mart and buy one!
