The only other car that came close today so far was a 1973 Ferrari Daytona that topped out at 2.1 million but didn't sell

They had estimated it'd sell for around 3 million. Can't really blame the guy for selling. It was his dad's car and there'd be a lot of stress owning such an iconic car.

Darryl, thanks for the offer. If the truth be known, I have owned my fair share of Mustangs including a 1971, 1974, 1982, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2008, and currently, my 2013. In addition to my original owner 1976 Mercury Cougar XR7 which I still have, I had 1988, 1990 and 1997 Cougars. My '64 CS has been the outcast in my garage since 1975. I know that 45 years is a lengthy period of time to keep a car, but, then again, I have owned my Merc for 44 years. Those of you who have read the September, 2016 Feature Car story on this site may well remember that the only reason I own my '64 CS is because of my cousin, Leslie. My life-long infatuation with Fords began with my first Ford in 1971. Although I have several thousands of dollars and a certain degree of sentiment invested in my CS, I would seriously consider selling it in order to purchase my absolute all time dream car, a 1957 E-code Thunderbird. In addition to this site, I belong to a Mustang, Cougar, and Ford site. I do admit that I enjoy all 4 sites. Perhaps this is a bit or a ramble, but it is my story.

The vw dealer in Bridgewater dabbled in buying and selling classics , around 1998, he had an e code in his showroom.

God I hate facebook... what a bunch of morons.

Sounds like somebody had fun with it somewhere in the shipping system.  There's no way it makes it out of the factory like that.

We had a ZR1 Corvette start knocking after our sales manager took it for a "spirited" drive. It had just come off the truck. Had a 90k window sticker. This was 1989

It would be nice to know the history behind the Facebook video. A friend of mine works at the local ford dealer and a supercharged F150 was in for a warranty engine. The owner had it for about a week, Ford covered it under warranty. The supercharger was dealer installed on the truck. No questions asked. Paul
