Restoring old die cast toys (Hotwheels, Matchbox, Dinky, Corgi etc) is becoming a popular hobby with many Youtube channels and Facebook pages devoted to it.
I thought I'd have a go at doing a simple restomod using two beat up Matchbox trucks. Here's what I started with:
The yellow truck was a Dodge stake truck. The stake portion of the truck was destroyed. The other truck is a European DAF which was missing wheels and in sad shape as well, The Dodge is from 1968, the DAF from 1970
Here's what I ended up with. Some guys super detail their models but I wanted to make it look like it could have been an actual Matchbox release back in the day
I wouldn't mind having a go at restoring the larger 1/43 scale Corgi and Dinky models. If you have any beat up ones you want to unload shoot me a PM. They can be missing parts as many pieces are now available in reproduction (as are decals, tires etc)

Great job, and the cost is low. Nice to do stuff like that during the winter to pass the time. I have Dinky Cars back to the 30s and each one looks great. Some needed to be restored and had fun doing it. Cheers.
