Visit to Carroll shelby museum/ plant in Las Vegas

IMG_3748[2].jpg

We were in Las Vegas for a week - while I was there I googled Las Vegas car shows and this came up

I never knew it was in las vegas

It was a 10.00 Uber ride from the strip - admission is free ( very little in Vegas is free) - the free tour is good - my wife who is not a car person even enjoyed it

Here are some pictures ( sorry some are fuzzy - I was using my cell phone

The tour told the story of this car being driven by Dan Gurney who apparently is (was)over  6 feet tall - they had to make the bump in the roof so he could fit in the car

The museum is attached to the Shelby conversion shop - it was a Saturday when we went so there was no one workingIMG_3760.JPGIMG_3761.JPGIMG_3762.JPGIMG_3770.JPG

According to the tour guide it takes 4 weeks to convert a regular mustang gt  to a shelby - two techs are assigned to each car for its conversion period

A minor criticism of the museum is that they don't have placards explaining the details of each car such as which is an original vs a " continuation " car.

Even if you are not a fan of the cars the tour is more the story of Carroll shelby than it is about the car - its a pretty interesting story - I knew nothing about his life as a racer in the 1950s

Excellent tour to say the least. Very impressive automotive history and awesome cars.
