Couldn't find my heavy duty high pressure open flame blow torch, so I used a hair dryer instead.

After about 2 minutes, around the main valve, the water was flowing again.

If its still that cold, Id leave one faucet running a little bit tonight to keep the water moving & reduce likelihood of it freezing by again.

The last time the pipes froze (same as today, cleared up in minutes) in the house was in 1998, I did do the running water thing that winter,

but I also insulated the pipes better and never had an issue again.....until this morning.

This cold weather of -25c  is scheduled to continue through Saturday....then a change.

Sunday is +2c and Monday is supposed to be +10c...almost a 40c change in two days....crazy.

Weve had it last week go from -14 with 14 cms, then +14 the next day, then 45 mms of rain the next day. A microcosm of Calgarys swings but not near as regular or as extreme.
