Ughhhh! Reminds me of the 17 feet of snow we got here a few years ago ... I still have "snow PTSD".

haha. Me too. We got kissed by this storm yesterday. 80k gusts and lots of blowing snow. Made my drive home from work interesting. I had a complete whiteout on my road. I had to stop and when visibility came back I thought I was into a snowbank. It was actually a hood high drift across the road!
A week ago some island "weather geeks" told me about this storm and it looked like it was going to hit us directly. Luckily (for us-but not NFLD) it shifted to the south.

Todd, is it not on days like this, that make you wish you had never left Ingersol, Ontario. Cheers.

They say Canada is now united, 90% of Canadians are watching videos of snow in Nfld. I like the snowboarding down the streets in downtown.

It's bad. I just spent two days clearing it up and I'm not finished yet. And it's snowing again tonight. And the City seems to be making little progress in cleaning it up. State of Emergency since Friday that will continue into Monday and possibly longer. Which means no one can move on the roads, and businesses can't open.
Here's a picture of a house on my street; completely snowed in. Unfortunately I can't get it in the right orientation, but the image shows a continuous sheet of snow 4 feet deep or more from the street back to the front door.

I feel for you John. Remember it is like eating an elephant, one bite at a time. Don't over do it.
I'm waiting for the sun to come up just a bit more before I start shoveling/blowing this morning.

I'm a little perplexed at the clean up process. Tomorrow will be day 5 of the state of emergency in St. John's, which means no one can go to work, businesses can't open and no one can drive a vehicle. I live 800 feet south of the city's equipment depot and I see the machinery going by all day long but it's not evident to me that they are making much progress in cleaning up the snow. The military have been sent in to help, and all of the adjacent towns and cities have ended their states of emergency and reopened for business. There seems to be a lack of central co-ordination among relevant government and municipal organizations. We've dealt with massive amounts of snow at times during the 50 plus years of my memory, yet we seem to have to relearn how to do it every time something out of the ordinary happens. It just seems so incredibly slow and inefficient. But I'm not political; what do I know?
