Does anyone remember when Goodyear offered bicycle tires in different colours around 1969? They used the Beach Boys in the Crazy Wheels song to advertise then Saturday mornings.

Somewhere I have a rescued Popular Mechanics mag with a picture of a '63 Chrysler wearing a set of those illuminated tires (they were tyres on the Consul shown above ^ )

These tires are just plain UGLY and speaking of ugly, so is the Golden Sahara............ man is that ever ugly.

Meh... it was pretty standard for a fifties custom.  Make it look different, add a bunch of features that would never be practical on an everyday car, and glitz it up with shiny stuff.
