Act of kindness

My grandson just stopped into Big M.

He had gone thru the drive thru at McDonalds and was munching on his take out when he noticed an 18 wheeler pull up to the curb, the driver walked across traffic to the drive through window.  The drive thru window would not serve him because he was not in a vehicle.

My grandson approached him and offered to go through the drive thru and place his order.

Trucker got his order and gave my grandson a tip.

Way to go Dan.

well done young man. I was wondering how many people would actually do this for our trucking community. If they are on the road or even hitting the highway for a haul-there are no drive throughs that will serve them and the restaurants are all closed to people. So how can they get a coffee or fast food to go other than someone helping them out like your grandson did. Nice to see someone help someone else out in these crazy times

The restaurants really need to address this issue. Maybe a phone order and an employee to give them their order at the door. Keeping the washrooms open would be nice too.

Excellent..... act of kindness. Gives me hope for the younger generation.

I suspect before this is all over,we will see more of this kind of good deeds being done.

..and the occasional non acts of kindness that will get lambasted by social media.

I love hearing of  restaurants giving away food they won't be using to charities,

manufacturing companies retooling to make ventilators and craft brewers

making hand sanitizers to give away.

I personally will not forget these companies who go beyond what they need to for

the sake of society. I will buy their products when this is over.

You have a thoughtful grandson, congratulations. I like how he thinks.

We had a 15 year old kid in the neighborhood who looked out his window last spring, the neighbors deck was in flames. He ran out the door to tell them, in his bare feet, he ran across the lawn and got them out. I was impressed with how these kids first thoughts were so nice.

Nice to hear of your Grandson doing a Great deed. Truckers Need a  Thank You. as wells Medical staff and Grocery store workers.

Heard today that a Grocery store on Northern Part of Vancouver Island sold a bunch of toilet paper to a customer in which he took outside and

was selling out of the back of his truck, someone called the Police and they confiscated the tp and gave it to the local shelter. Not sure what

happened to the seller.   Karma.

We were staying in Maricopa Arizona the last couple of weeks. Last night there was a story about traffic being stopped at a red light. A guy got out of his vehicle, ran back to a trucker who was stopped behind him and just handed him some money to thank him for his efforts! Pretty cool....

Yes, we got home at 5:30 tonight. We cut our trip short, was supposed to be until the 29th but last Sunday we made what I think was a smart decision, we re-booked our tickets and caught the first flight home we could get.

14 days in the garage is what lies in wait for me I guess. We will not be the ones who spread this if we did happen to have carried the virus here.

Thank God you are home safely. I don't even have to be self- isolated but half my family does due to travel. I will admit to spending some quality time with the Corvette tonight and get this I called three people up and talked on the phone!.

I suspect there will be a LOT of phone calls and Facetime going on the next while!

And on that note, as per the reason this thread started, I've heard of/read of SO many acts of kindness for isolated people. We were also recipients of that. Our truck was delivered to the airport and dropped off so we didn't have to ride home with anyone. When we got home, a friend had gone shopping for us, stocked our fridge with a wonderful selection, fruit, vegetables, milk, meat etc. I get a little teary eyed typing this. It's amazing what friends and neighbours do in a time of need.

Sadly, while we were away, a good friend of mine passed away. He was the original owner of a 72 GTO hardtop 400 4 speed. Still has the car, unrestored other than a rebuild engine and front suspension. We missed the celebration of life (and it truly was in this case) for a wonderful Christian guy who didn't have an enemy on earth... His brother/sister in law live just down the street from us and unfortunately for the next two weeks at least we will not be able to pay forward the acts of kindness awarded to us.
