I wonder how long it took them to unload the Firenza. In the spring / summer of '72 the Firenza's reputation crashed and burned and they  basically became unsalable.

 

Way back I used to always save the newspaper ads from the new car introductions, usually a Thursday on the 3rd week of September. The Big 4 (there were 4 big North American players) paid big bucks for advertising as there were many multi-page ads and intros. Did it for years starting with the 70 intro. I also saved key issues of Weekend Magazine (the newsprint mag included with Saturday papers) with the new car intros. They did features on the new Vega, Pinto, Javelin, Riviera, and included most highlights from the new lineup (in colour). Then came the big cleanup and they all got tossed. It's o.k. though, I memorized everything before pitching it. wink
