Mesa Arizona, do we have a member there?

I know we have a member in Tucson but it seems to me we have a member in Mesa as well.

Or does anyone here know a Mesa resident? I need to get some payment to a guy there for parts and he doesn't do any online payment stuff. He sounds like he's a bit old school. It's not a lot of money (under $100) but i can't get him paid quickly in any easy sort of way.

Not even that, he just wants cash in hand, or he said a money order. It doesn't seem like a scam, it's not the kind of parts a scammer would advertise, and I talked to the guy, I'd say he's a senior or close to it.

Would you believe you can't buy a US money order from Canada Post any more?

Have you considered a bank draft? I have used them for national and international transactions and have had no problems whatsoever.

The bank draft is a payment instrument whose funds are guaranteed by your financial institution.

It works very simply. To obtain a bank draft, just head to your bank. An employee will withdraw money from your account and transfer it to an account in the banks name. Then you will be issued a bank draft, which is a document made out in the name of the person who will receive the money. Your name and the amount will also appear on the document. The bank draft can be used in foreign countries to make a payment or close a transaction. You can have one prepared in the currency of your choice.

Normally, the bank draft has two parts. The first is the so-called negotiable part. This is what you give to the person you are paying. The second is non-negotiable. It contains various information relating to the transaction. Keep that in your files, because it will be useful if the bank draft is lost or stolen.

I tried one of those with my friend in Nebraska a few years back and it was nothing but hassle. I finally just waited until the next time I saw him and paid him cash. His bank gave him nothing but grief because it was a Canadian bank draft (even though it was in US funds)

The banks are the only ones that do U.S. money orders, i did one, two months ago.  No hassle on the other end.

Thanks Jerel, I think I have a guy to do it. Our Uber driver we used the last 2 years from the airport to Maricopa. I asked him if he'd do it for $25 and he says yes.

Now I have to figure out how to pay him! He doesn't do Paypal or E-transfer!

Thanks Mark, no worries. I appreciate the offer. There still could be a "next time", I'm always scouring Phoenix and Tucson Craigslist for stuff!
