This might have been done before and if it was please forgive me. Show us your die cast, tin toys of what have you of your present vintage car, meaning of a a real vintage car you own right NOW. I will start with my 1957 Pontiac toy and my 1974 Chev Caprice Estate wagon toy. The wagon is actually a 1973 but it is close enough. Cheers.

I have a small collection of dealer promos but I was 3 when this was handed out.

006a.jpg

Fall of 1969, Ford Talbotville had a tour of the plant as they were introducing the new car to the plant.

My dad, who worked there, took me and my brother with my Grandfather pulling the two brats in a wagon.

They ordered thousands of these cars from Jo-Han in Detroit.

Every kid got one, including my Grandfather biggrin

Mine probably met a Tonka truck a few days later.

My grandfather kept his on a high shelf and gave this to me about 15 years ago.

I have never tried to clean it, I'm worried about scratching it.

Edit,

The ownership part.

When I met my wife guess what she owned, a rotted 4 door Maverick that her dad thought could be fixed.

She ended up driving an Olds 98 from her Aunt.

There are a couple 1966 Batmobile replicas in Ontario.

Actually that should clean up quite well in mild dish soap.  If it has screws on the bottom (I believe these did, but I gave away my Maverick promo to a buddy who once had one), then you can take it apart and dunk the parts into a basin with lukewarm water and dish soap.  Just be gentle with it and dry it off with a soft cloth and you won't scratch anything.  Be extra gentle on the chrome, or perhaps try just rinsing it off with water.  The only other issue is that you wouldn't want to start the metal axles rusting, so dry them off really well. You could put just the tiniest drop of a mild oil on them as well to protect them after you wash it.  I wouldn't try to remove the wheels from the axles, though, as you could break them.

To play it safe you could also just limit your cleaning to the body, glass and interior, and use a Swiffer or something similar to remove the dust from the other parts.

Either way it looks like a nice example of a Maverick promo.  Mine had a broken windshield pillar.  I gave it to a good friend of mine when he was visiting from Toronto as we had spent many a scary mile in his when we were teenagers...
