I had heard that hed been put on a respirator a couple of days ago bug was hoping for the best.
for some reason, this one hits me pretty hard. I was actually planning on seeing him live in Vancouver this summer. Would have been the first time for me. Too late now. He was 73.
He did a lot of great tunes and was a unique talent.

At the risk of being in poor taste I will post a link to one of his songs that probably sums up the way he would have wanted to go. That goes for me too.
I first heard this song in 1973 and thought it was about the funniest thing I had heard especially with all the real serious, profound singer songwriters at the time cluttering up the airwaves with their meaningful lyrics that I still haven't figured out.
It wasn't too surprising that this never got played on the radio though.
Good bye John.

I had heard John Prine had the virus but was on the mend. He had some health issues the last few years. A sad passing.
Although I'm not familiar with his music, I do remember hearing about John through Hot Rod magazine circa 1980, of all places. He was telling the story of back in the early 60's he had a '60 Impala 348 with a 3-in-the-tree. He had it at the drag strip, and what caused the problems was surprisingly not the balky shift linkage, it was the rear end, which he blew out all over the track. It may have inspired the song, "Automobile".
