I always get mixed feelings about stuff like this. The man was rich and eccentric and did this..... so great he saved a number of cars that might have been trashed. Ok so now they are warehoused for thirty years or more for no one to enjoy but him, maybe. How do you enjoy vintage cars that are in deep storage. They might have been trashed or they might have been saved and restored and enjoyed by folks for those same thirty years or more. These cars after sitting those many years have to be redone mechanically for someone hopefully to drive and enjoy these cars like they were intended. The owner did this for all these many decades and now it is his kids that will rack in the wealth for their dads obsessions. I just do not get it and i have tried and tried to get it............ but i do not. I have far more respect for collectors that do this but drive their collections, show their collections, upkeep their collections and actually enjoy what they have amassed and not just WAREHOUSED. Cheers. smile

Well if this world gets a little closer to normal by then I think I may be planning a road trip. Might only buy a hubcap but that would be all, but I just love auctions and they cost almost nothing to attend. If fact at her last auction I went to I think a bidder's pass was $50 or less and I like her auctions. They get right at it like Ritchie Brothers do. Plans were to be in Europe in September-October but pretty sure that ain't happening. There is a certain excitement when things change hands quickly and with NO RESERVE.

I love auctions also, but I've never been to solely auto-related auction. Some farm auctions I've been to have some auto-related stuff and even an vehicle or two, but that's it. Someday I'll make it to a real automotive auction.smile

That White '65 Chevelle ragtop sitting in the corner isn't the elusive Z16 396 car is it? There was 1 built and it disappeared shortly after. Someone has it hidden in thier collection somewhere........
