So, what do you Poncho Folk's think about ChromaLusion paint made by Cromax ? I think you either love, or hate it....just looking for opinions here.
Sort of expensive though...$65.09 per ounce, $836.19 per pint, and $1576.69 per quart, all U.S. Dollars, before applicable taxes and hazardous shipping charges.
They say you need to find a very experienced auto painter to apply this properly. I guess that you would not want to spill any paint at the price that it is.....Comments welcomed here ! Jim. P.S. Maybe this product is just for Rice Burners, Honda's, Mazda's, Jap Scrap, etc. ?
Here is a link that shows what it looks like. You will likely have to "cut and paste" this into your browser, as I do not think that it is a live link.
I have a chance to buy about 4 US gallons, Cardinal Red apparently, from an estate sale, dirt cheap. The widow was just going to throw it all out. Wondered what it might look like on a "66 Parisienne Custom Sport with a white rag top ?
Experienced opinions are welcomed ! Pictures are just for conversation purposes.
You asked for opinions, so I won't hold my tongue.
Queer as a three dollar bill. When DuPont first brought this flip/flop/chameleon crap to market, a friend did his beautiful '56 Chevy in it. Ruined the car. Ruined. I hate it and everything that looks like it. Dispose of properly!
It depends on your taste and the car its on. There was a 35 Ford pickup around here painted with that paint but it didnt look good on that body style. Too many compound curves I think. The owner repainted it in a solid colour after a couple of years.

Ditto!

MY BEAUMONT HAS 4 STUDDED TIRES AND 2 BLOCKHEATERS......AND LOTS OF OIL UNDERNEATH. The other one has a longer roof.
Unless the car was built in Japan, has a fake blow-off valve for that sweet 'pshhhhh' sound, and has a fart pipe exhaust, then it is written in the antique/muscle car rule book that such a choice is strictly forbidden and any person caught doing so will have said antique/muscle car reposessed and replaced with a clapped out Honda Civic with Canadian Tire spinner hub caps, mirror tint, HUUUUGE trunk spoiler, and stove pipe exhaust (appoximately 8" in diameter. To summarize...no, don't do it. Ricers will love it, the rest of us....you don't want to know.
Well Guys, I sure do appreciate all of your comments about the ChromaLusion paints. I know that there are lots of companies making different type of "Chameleon" paint, and frankly, I have saw some really nice paint jobs with this stuff, but it really never turned my crankshaft at all.
The car that I use in my Avatar, is a car from Quebec, that is completely a show car. I own exactly the same car, little 283 Parisienne convertible, with the tried and true 2 speed PowerGlide transmission. I am basically almost ready for paint, but I am thinking that I will just stick with the good old Dupont Cardinal Red, maybe a nice pinstripe. The picture that I grabbed was just off Pinterest or somewhere, and it was what I hope that my ride would look like at some point, or maybe even better.
My '66 project Parisienne is painted in the old maroon colour that I was never very fond of at all, My aspirations were a Cardinal Red, as I have always found that to be a "head turner", and I made a promised to myself that I would paint a Pontiac in it's true colours. Anyways, that is my confession.
I have the old 283 humming like a Swiss watch, so hopefully I am out on the road fairly soon. The maroon paint has basically been swept up in the dust pan, so the new colour should be shooting through the air in the paint booth shortly. After hearing the comments, definitely not a "chameleon" paint of any sort !!!
Thanks Guys, I trust your wisdom and experience explicitly !

By the way, only paid $25.00 for 4 unopened gallons of this "chameleon" paint.
Probably will just list it on Scarborough Kijiji in a while, and it will likely be gone in half and hour.
It will be a windfall sale to a "Jap Scrapper" somewhere, and I guess that he / she will think that they are the coolest car on the block, in Scarbaria anyway.
Thanks to all you knowledgeable Folk's here on C.P. !

I am with the crowd that does not like it. It would be a real good way to make a car........ any car, unlikable and that ridiculous cost as well. Rusty patina is looking real good compared to this.

My Dad had an Oldsmobile SSL with similar paint. It constantly changed colours in the shade/sun. I didn't like it.

That type of flipflop paint seemed to be popular in the nineties, but I haven't noticed it much lately. I recall Chrysler had a few colours that showed slight colour variations depending on how the light hit it. I recall a white that took on a gold hue in certain lighting.

I remember that.
