Another 30 days of only essential travel at the Canada/US border. While I'm not happy about having a number of packages of mine sitting only 25 miles away on the other side of the border, I realize it's the right thing to do.

I'm also waiting to get my parts picked up at the border as well. It's wise to extend , as it seems North Dakota is not slowing down the curve like Manitoba has to-date.
Agreed. The US has not done as well as Canada to control the spread of the virus. Opening the border while things are still out of control to the south would only serve to undo a bunch of that work.

My stuff isn't something I just have to get right now, or I'd do it this way.

Good news! I guess the only down side for me is the fact I have a huge old camper trailer that's sitting in my outbuilding. It belongs to friends of my wife who live in the US and spend the summer here. It's one of those monsters that requires a 2500 series truck or better to move. My Cherokee won't be able to move it. It's parked in the future "paint booth" area and there's a part of the back wall behind it I wanted to repair this year. I guess that'll be in 2021..

Too bad you dont live a bit closer. My son and I would head over with his big Dodge and shift it for you! We could get it done without violating physical distancing and any other covid guidelines (except the stay at home part).

I agree it should remain closed except for ME so I can get my parts On the news last night a guy goes to the lower bridge in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side and views his kids on the US side with his ex-wife who lives in Buffalo. that's sad

Similarly have been holding back on some purchases because of not being able to utilize my NFalls drop location. Wonder how long the drop location would hold them? With this being their prime reason for being in business will they survive? What would happen if they closed while still in possession of your package(s)?

I emailed the place I use just across the line when we were still in Arizona, early March. They quickly replied not to worry about their normal 30 day rule, they will keep my stuff as long as is needed until the border opens.

Problem solved. I hired a local courier to run across and get them. It actually wasn't all that bad either. When I think about it, I would have made the trip to the border and back (about 65 miles round trip to the parcel depot in North Dakota) likely 4 times for this stuff. That would be about $50 for gas. The fees for the parcel depot to receive it ($43.50) in North Dakota are the same whether the courier picks it up, or I do. So, for this invoice I would have dished out $93.50 if I had done it myself. The total value of this stuff is about $400 Canadian, so I can live with it costing me about $30 extra. I still would have bought all that stuff even if it had cost a total of $30 more to buy it.
I'm very happy to get all this stuff home. Some of it had been there over 3 months.
I was hoping you'd see this. If you didn't respond I was going to PM you. This has worked out amazingly well and I can't believe how cheap it is. Someone there must be doing it as well. They're missing a great opportunity if they aren't. The border at your place must be full of parcels waiting to come in.
I didn't even contact the place that had my parcels, the courier even did that. All I did was get all the invoices to the courier, they sent me a quote, I responded to the quote with an E-transfer for the quoted amount. That was all over a period of about 2-3 hours Friday morning. This morning they were at our door at 8:45 with all my stuff.

So I've been ordering stuff from the US and having it delivered to my house. There have been some import fees involved, but to be honest they have been quite modest.
I'm wondering why not just have it sent to your address and avoid all the stress? Not trying to pry, but just trying to understand.
