They got some interesting rigs in Mexico. Saw this on Facebook this morning.

What a difference our emissions laws make! We did have a couple of 1988 and 1989 trucks at work with carburated 350s but they were one tons. We also had a one ton in 1988 with a carburated 292. This appears to be a fuel injected 250 by the style of distributor and the lack of a mechanical fuel pump. It would be interesting to have a good look at it.

Yes, the guy who posted it on FB said it had a throttle body. Be cool to get that "distributor" setup, computer and throttle body and convert an older straight 6

I'd buy a truck like that in a minute! What a great basic fixable machine!

They do have some different vehicles all right. I remember doing an inspection on a Dodge Ramcharger of approximately the same year. Front was same as full size pickup and rear was same as Minivan. It actually matched together quite well.

I love it just as it sits. I also was looking for where the fuel pump was. They didn't do a TBI version of that engine in Canada or the U.S. but by then it was common on the V8s.

It does look like a 250, though the last references I personally have seen to the 292 being offered domestically was 1988 and  they were coming in from Mexico for use on the holdover 1987-style straight rail chassis cabs & crew cabs (R & V series, formerly C & K series which the new 1988+ trucks were now called). The R & V series ran from 1988 through 1990 and also included the Blazers & Suburbans, which all were updated to the new style for 1991.

The inline sixes with the firing sequence & intake port setup don't lend themselves all that well to port fuel injection, but a throttle body injection setup would work well with a log / branch intake on those engines. I never knew they did them (did they in fact?)

In Canada / U.S. the injected 4.3 V6 replaced the 250 (4.1) 2-barrel inline six for 1985.
