65 Slimline Dash speaker wanted.

Long shot, as I know that they basically dissolve with the sun, but does anyone have a usable 4x10 slimline oval dash speaker that they would part with?

I could certainly buy a new one, but it would be kind of pricey. And besides, it's only for the AM radio. No fidelity required.

I think GM used it 59-69.

Thanks, Mark

I scored (2) 4x10 speakers from Princess Auto Surplus section @ $4.99 ea.  I couldnt let them sit there. If you need it. Well find a way to get it to you.9B09D1BC-0514-4528-A936-20884E92C2EB.jpegC775B1FE-B021-4CCB-88C4-5BAC75C9E46F.jpeg

Thanks Pete. The only issue is, although that Princess auto says its 4-8 ohms, it's probably is less than 8.

Anything less than 8 will apparently toast the output transistor in a 60's Delco Radio. I think the factory slimline was 10. Maybe a radio guy here could chime in more on this?

I apologize, I should have said that in my request...doh! no

There is some good reading here,

I have what looks like a good 10 ohm slimline unit in a 64 Pontiac dash. Photo attached.

If you want it it is yours for a contribution to the site at your discretion. If this works for you send me your mailing address and I'll get it off to you via Canada Post.

More pics of the inside of the speaker. Paper looks very good.

Hi John, if Mark passes on it, I would like it.

Of course, I do not want to butt in on Mark's needs.

Mark is going to take it as it is in pretty good condition. I don't know if I have others but I will check the radio boxes in the next couple of days and if I see a decent one there I'll let you know.

Did you get C pillar boards? i thought I had a set but I've looked numerous times and so far have not found them. Perhaps they were discarded, although that seems unlikely for me. Nevertheless, if I do find them I'll let you know unless you have already found what you need.

Thanks John, but I was just inquiring if Mark wasn't going to take the speaker.

Another CP member is coming through with the sail panel (I'll let members know who he is when I give him a CP thank you) ... I just don't want to get to excited until they arrive in my mailbox!

Darryl

Mark found a brand new one so this one is now yours if you want it. I also found another one this morning which got me excited at first because the paper is mint - except for two small punctures. Could probably be fixed to work OK. IMG_4692.jpg

See photo.

PM me to let me know your contact info.

thanks

John

Mark,

I have what appears to be a good speaker for you. Do not know if it works. I will drop in to see you next week to get the end mills and will bring the speaker, some trim clips I found and the wire harness for your clock.

Bill.

Got the speaker today from Bill. All I can say is wow! Amazing condition. Bill says it was a rear side speaker, so that probably allowed it to survive.

Brushed and blew all the 55 years of dust off and gave it a test. Perfect.

Is it just me or does AM music though these old components just sound perfectly vintage? Does it take you back?

Thanks to everyone for the consideration, and to Bill. I'm going to listen to it later tonight on the longwire, see what that old Delco radio can pick out!
