1968 B Body Front Wheel Assembly Complete

I have been doing some spring cleaning and I have a complete front wheel assembly of drums, brake shoes, spindles, steering arms etc since upgrading the 68 to the C3 disc brakes.

I am wondering if anyone has any interest in the complete set?  They are 50 lbs each so a buck a pound, $100.  I am just gauging to see if there is any interest before I list them on Kijiji as 68 Impala parts.  20% to CP if they sell.

They are a tough sell 65-68 drum brake assemblies. I've had such things sitting around, being lugged here and there for years, unable to bring myself to scrap them. If they had the big bearings (not until 69), then the hubs would be desirable for a C3 disc conversion. I'm at least glad I could supply you with the arms from the 67, but I now longer have room for this heavy stuff.

I bet with a little work the big bearing 69 spindle (or any drum spindle 65-69) could be modified to take a C3 Caliper bracket.

My last drum setup I tore out (the 65), I stripped down to just a spindle and hub. One will make a good hub to use for painting wheels. With some fabbing, they could also probably have made a good pair of utility trailer hubs.

Maybe at a minimum the drums would still be good for someone?

Those hoses look new too. Someone must need them?

Thanks for the responses. I figured as much there would be a few sets kicking around with disc conversions. There is one new hose and the other side is cut and of no use.

The drums looked OK, some waves and the shoes still had paint on them so they are not bad. I might just take the steering arms off and then head on down to the Urban Mine and scrap the rest along with some old rotors from another vehicle. I am keeping all my stock parts from this car except this old drum setup.

If anyone needs any thing off them, let me kmow!

Mark, do you want the steering arms? I can send them your way if you want them.

If you're doing that I have a starter and a heat riser valve he may want too.

Should be good, thanks for the offer though. appreciate it.

You should keep them (and the bolts) for when the next guy takes on a conversion, and wants to keep driving up till the point it gets changed over...like yourself!

That's a good point about the arms. I might have to pull them apart for the next conversion like you say!

Thanks Danny,

Looks like these front drum wheel assemblies have about as much appeal as trying to sell used underwear..... nobody wants them, lol.

But, I had to try and now I know.  So, the arms will come off and the rest is going to Urban Mine with some other no longer needed metal pieces that I am storing.

So, I am officially closing this "for sale thread" and thank everyone for responding!
