41 Chev Master Deluxe- Nova Scotia

This one is owned by a neighbour, he has owned it a long time and has numerous cars. It is mint stock and just what you see.

Was that a stock colour for 1941 Chevrolets?

I concur, a gorgeous car. winner.gif

I don't think it is a stock colour, although Chevy did have a couple of greens in 1941 that were kind of like that but more sage in nature. That turquoise looks to be from an era about 15 years newer. Maybe a Cadillac colour?

It's funny, they didn't offer vacuum power brakes on those cars, but they did have a vacuum-assisted column shift for the 3-speed. confuse.gif

Two thumbs-up.

I once owned a 1940 Chevrolet with the vacuum assist gear shift. It worked well but sometimes felt odd when pulling into low gear as it almost pulled itself into gear with just a slight amount of pressure on the shifter. It was marketed for women drivers at the time.

Its not a turquoise in person, its a non metallic green, pretty common I think to cars of this and early 50s vintage. Ivan would know if its stock, he has had several 39-41 chevs. He has some really nice cars, a 58 impala and a 57 Star Chief Vert which is also perfect like this one. He was restoring a 49 Chev Vert too, also green if I remember correctly. He parks by the Irving in Mahone bay on nice evenings in one of his cars.

It must be the lighting in the photo and  the way it looks on my monitor because it looks turquoise. In person it looks different eh? With a car that nice I am not surprised that a stickler saw to it that is a correct colour.

Funny, the turquoise looks like the colour of one of my favourite old models, a vintage AMT 1940 Ford pickup.

I wont guarantee its original, but to me, the rest of the car is stock in detail so Im assuming the colour is a correct colour. It was painted when he bought it.

My brother did a 1941 Chev coupe identical to this one about 30 years ago. The interior was supplied by Hampton Coach and the paint was done by Bill Barrette at Porcupine Auto Body. The colour was a metallic green lacquer that was an original factory colour that he and I did the final buffing and polish. The car was rust free from California. All stainless was in good shape and anything that needed replacement was nos or rechromed. The rechrome job on the flying lady hood ornament was ok but the eye portion on the face was filled in too much and was missing. The green paint on this car looks to be more pastel on my monitor. Very nice car but the 216.5 could not be driven too hard because of the oiling system.

I think the colour is off in the photos, as they all seem to be a little too much on the blue scale.

They did have a colour called Cimarron Green, which looks similar in the brochure to what I imagine this car looks like in person.  It's the top colour on the brochure colour below.

I think the first picture of the 41 is off, probably because of the bright lighting.

Go to the other pictures and the colour seems closer to the brochure.

My wife and i visited  Nova Scotia back in 2013.  Our first couple of nights were in Peggy's cove - then we drove back to Halifax and went thru Mahonne bay - i remember seeing the 1957 black Star chief convertible parked in a driver  that had  a few classics such as a Ford retractable ( 59 is my memory)

We stopped for a few minutes and the owner and his son took us to the back to see the other stuff in his stop - I remember a  39-41 chev being parked in the back - the owner mentioned he had spent $ 500 on a working radio for it

Possibly the same guy?

Yup, but the 57 is not black, but has a black top, the 59 retractable is black. He also has a dark blue 38 or 39 with that hump back. He rebuilt that one himself. Small world aint it?

Very nice! Is it a Canadian car or American?

I'd like to see his '38, too...
