A Canadian company is turning the world of electric conversions on its head,

developing a new swap kit that would allow hot rodders to keep the original V8-powered look

of their classic Chev's engine bay while ditching the exhaust fumes.

Even as a guy building an electric pickup (the 38 Willys) I think this is kind of dumb.

Just be honest about what you have. Its not going to fool anybody.

Exactly my thought, we need two speakers in the back where the tailpipes are.

 Exactly.

It might fool some people while standing still at a car show.

At least it's CANADIAN made!

I suspect whoever wrote the article got the reason for making this wrong. I would suspect it's to allow an easier "bolt in" swap than to try to fool people into thinking it's still a SBC. But then again I could be wrong.

I'm not sure what his thinking was.  There is a whole lot more to converting a vehicle to electric than a dummy engine cover.

If you want to actually have a stealth electric you will need to hide some periperals like the controller(with heat sink) a dc to dc converter to run your 12 volt system, probably a vacuum pump for the power brake, probably a pump for the power steering, the battery pack (which is big) and a charger as well as associated fuses, breakers, wiring, relays, and gauges.

You'll also have to decide whether to keep your now useless radiator, exhaust system and fuel system just for show.
