Randy's day out

This all started in early April with a member post,

https://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t66491836/show-us-your-toys-of-vintage-cars-that-you-actually-own-now-/

I have some dealer promos but the 1969 Bonneville always goes for way too much.

This one would be $300 cdn by the time it got to my house,

But I started watching eBay again,

I ended up throwing some low bids on other AMT Dealer Promos

I didn't think much about them but I ended up winning both !

A 1966 Fairlane GTA spent the winter beside my car at the bodyshop.

That one will be a full rotisserie prison sentence.

Got this for the owner of the body shop for $20

These days mail is very slow and it took over 4 weeks for these to come in.

My heart sunk when the other one came in.

Imagine, a 56 year old toy surviving generations of boy, toy destroyers, only to be treated like this.

What I pulled out of my mail box,

Inside that box, another box.

The undamaged box is the one the Fairlane came in

I opened the damaged box with my heart in my throat to find,

004a.jpg

1964 Galaxie XL with the only one fault. Looks like the marker chrome got knocked off.

It survived !

The cool part is, these cars were real sales tools with all the car's stats and features printed on the bottom of the car.

You have seen one of these on this site before.

My plan, after I won this was to re-mail the car to Mr. D.

That way he could have the "toy" of what he drove.

However, how could I risk sending this back in the mail.

Canada post is stressed and it shows.

With help of Carl, I got a hold of Johnnee and made the non-stop run to the Greater Toronto Area today.

Got there early so I stopped at an empty, small, Rona(Hardware store) and bought sand paper to paint my bathroom (Happy wife, happy life)

Why are people lining up at big boxes ?

Made my way over to the villain's house and made his eyes pop.

Surprises are fun.

Johnnee may even have the missing part from a AMT build kid.

How cool is that !

It was good to see someone other than a stressed out grocery clerk.

On the way home I made a quick stop to see Mark

Mark had a couple surprises for me,

This dealer promo will find a special place in my shop.

And this,

012a.jpg

Inside is a body plate that has been a running topic between me an Carl for years !

Mark's 65 will be a lot of fun when it's done.

It's the first time I had seen it.

I made the whole trip with only the member stops + Rona.

Boy I had to go when I got home.

I get home and my wife hands me a box, "This came in the mail today"

"Please" I said, "let me take care of the bladder first !"

Howmac's box got here so fast that I had not even looked up the tracking number yet.

Thank you sir. Part is already on the car.

I lost count now on how many members have parts on this car.

We have a lot of great members here.

As you can tell,

I don't get out much.

Thanks for reading this self indulgent post.

Great job Randy. I have the exact same 64, my grandfather got it from the dealer back in 64.

I had sent Johnee pictures of it when he got his 64.
