I've been looking around in ebay for turn signal switches for my steering column of my '65 Beaumont which has a steering column w/o tilt. Thought it would be easy to just get in, buy one, and get out. I was surprised however, to find out that there seem to be two versions of no-tilt steering columns: "guide" and "bpc". Seems like I'll have to take my column apart just to investigate what I have.
Does anyone know what each of these mean and what the differences are?

From what I have seen the Guide 911051 switch is more common but yes, if you want to replace it with the same one you will have to identify the style you have in there now.

The "c" shaped piece of plastic that the signal arm screws onto will be stamped with either BPC or guide. it will be obvious when the wheel is removed. On 64 and 64 beaumonts i have only ever seen the guide ones, but anything is possible.

MY BEAUMONT HAS 4 STUDDED TIRES AND 2 BLOCKHEATERS......AND LOTS OF OIL UNDERNEATH. The other one has a longer roof.
unfortunately the two fasten differently in side the column and the BCP is usually more expensive. The plastic canceling arm used in the Guide used to be available in the after market. Not sure if it still is ?

So what you guys are telling me is that ... the only actual difference between the two columns (the whole column) is actually the turn signal switch? So the column will look the same? ... in every sense?
