Flush or Not to Flush, That is the Question

In a quandary on cooling system flushing. My newer vehicles I swap coolant every couple years, never had coolant issues. '68 Parisienne that I have had 16 years, looking onto my radiator last year, coolant is clear but I can see crusties on the core tubes, 3 core  guessing original replacement and brass, BB, fan shroud, and Auto Trans. Last coolant change about 8 years for hose change. Runs fine temp cruising, gets warm in traffic but no over heating. I believe the system is OK but!!! "Flush or Not To Flush"? I'm afraid of opening a can of worms, looking for thoughts / input / experiences. Thanks!

Flush it. It's only a can of worms if you already have a can of worms...

Similar performance with mine last year. I flushed it and re-tested all in traffic. Worse thing that could happen is no improvement. Best thing that could happen is an improvement. You got nothing to lose by flushing.

Has anyone ever used Redline's "WaterWetter"? It's supposed to improve cooling ability. If so, did you notice any difference?

Todd I used it once in my Acadian but saw no difference---BUT--- if I remember you use water not anti-freeze for the base mix. I did see a noticeable difference when I replaced the stock water pump with a Stewart High Flow, a 180 thermostat,18" Fan and an OEM Fan Shroud. Even with the Vintage Air on and a plus 90 F degree day in traffic held the temperature on the gauge to about 185 F. I would recommend to flush and use a good quality anti-freeze 50/50 mix, replace the thermostat, check belt tension, check upper and lower rad hoses and including heater hoses. My 2 cents.
