Not just another Kijiji ad. It's the twin of the car that I loved since I was 3 years old.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/city-of-toronto/1969-pontiac-grande-parisienne/1502352579

I first saw this car on Flickr (2009)

Adam has owned the car since 2003.

Adam's father is an original owner of a 1969 Parisienne 4 door that he still has.

So Adam seemed like family right away.

I made arrangements to see the car Tuesday.

Nervous about going alone, I found a good friend to go with.

Johnnee D made some time from his home sentence and with masks in hand, we were off.

The car is truly a time piece and the desire to have it beside mine, in the shop was overwhelming.

I even scouted U-Haul on-line before I left, for the closest available trailer.

We found the place with the help of my shotgun rider. Johnnee is an excellent navigator.

I got to test drive the car around East Toronto and I can tell you its a dream to drive.

We did leave Johnnee in the alley to defend for himself biggrin

Mechanically, this car is near perfect.

Body wise, the car has some ghosts.

It could be driven like it is and enjoyed or restored to be the dream car it was.

If only times were different.

With no work from my current job till fall and bit of a body shop bill this year, sadly, I have to pass on the girl.

Below, is some shots from Me and Johnnee,

Yep, he's a good photographer too !

Adam has other parts like a front clip for sale as well.

He is losing his beautiful storage spot and has to sell his cars.

And one last note,

Adam has the Recall letter from GM for the Torque straps installation because of the weak motor mounts.

What a cool piece of history. I told him to sell the letter separately.

It's a good thing for Johnnee there is social distancing.

I would have cried on his shoulder, all the way back.

If anyone wants more info, you can send me a private message.

Adam will see this post as well.

I asked him for permission before I posted.

I'd buy it, pick away at it, clean it up a bit and drive it.

I'm glad Jean finally got the respect and admiration that he deserves.

What a beauty!

I have to say, given the affection that you have for this car, maybe you should give a little more thought to your decision to pass on it.  I'm just saying that once it's gone, there is no guarantee that you will ever have a chance at getting it again, nor is there any guarantee that it won't end up as somebody's custom car project or whatever.

I completely understand being financially responsible, especially during these times, but man this sounds like your holy grail car.  Given the production numbers for Canadian cars, this could very likely be the only one left just like it. All said, the car may not be perfect but it sure shows well, and there would be no shame in driving it just like it is.

In the end, though, only you know what is right for you.

Also, I have to say that it sounds like JohnneeD was the best ride along companion you could have had (don't listen to that Carl character... lol) - excellent photographer too!  Great pics!
